well guys i got the parts from jasper last week (the "new" lifters) i got them out of the box and they were noisy straight away. good thing i ordered my own parts. i got the cam, lifters, springs and push rods installed. put it all back together to find the tank end on my radiator had busted which i then had to get warrantied as i replaced it last year so that set me back some.

i got a tune from one of the members here which was awesome and very helpful (thanks @Geotrash ) i got hptuners installed and running, i got the tune file added/copied into my stock tune and it now runs great. i had to drive it to work so i could get some help with the tune (one of the guys i works with has used hptuners so he knew more then me) so i drove like a grandma to work on the stock tune so i didnt mess anything up it went uneventful thankfully. i drove it and it ran really good and sounds good, the idle at stop lights is "choppy" but not too choppy so well see how it goes lol

just wanted to give an update on the situation. i did also notice that my oil pressure is between 40 and 60 psi on the gauge which i thought was odd as before all of this my pressure was between 20 and 40 but i guess i was losing oil pressure from the cam/lifters as i didnt replace the oil pump.

Awesome! Yes, sounds about right for that cam. Glad the tune worked out well!

hey guys. Quick observation, I’ve noticed that since the install/tune my transmission temps are higher then they used to be. Is this normal or should I be concerned? It was 85* degrees yesterday and just normal driving around it got to 190 it did t stay there but only dropped to like 180. I have the cooler in the radiator and the large tru-cool cooler in the lower part of the grill.

If I remember correctly they started doing the thermostat on the trans in 14. Mine doesn’t have that since it’s a 12. Before the tune/cam install, my trans temp stayed around 150-160. Idk if it has to do with the fact that the tune I got also tuned the TCM and changed things in the trans but I’m worried about my trans temp when towing my camper.

I was just reading on the subject. Apparently in 2014 they did away with whatever the current thermostat system was, and revised it with the above part number to reduce transmission temps. So anything prior to the 2014 model of the year should be using the revised part number.

2014 and down in the SUVs are the GMT900 Platform. So NO thermostat
in the oil cooler lines like 2015+ (2014+ pick ups)
The tune prob got rid of TC lock up in gears 1-3or 4
and did some other 'good' things. It 'may' run a tad hotter than before the
HPTuners. Doesn't sound out of whack to me. You;ll have to check it while
towing to see if that makes it worse/higher than before the tune

Lol, I had to read deeper! Yes, 2015 and up. I stand corrected.
So then what is up with the earlier 6L80's running warmer? (As do the 4l65s)

We took a 3-hour drive yesterday in the 2014 Escalade, running 60 to 70 mph, up and down random hills, I'd say it averaged 145°, the warmest it got was 153. Radiator and transmission cooler are OEM. (Only thing not stock related to the transmission is a Luberfiner spin on hydraulic filter in line on the return side.)

Well drove it around for the week before our trip and tuned the transmission and changed the oil everything looked great.

We drove 400ish miles yesterday to go to the beach and we towed our 26ft camper down and it did great. The whole drive up and down hills the trans temp stayed 160-180 and my oil pressure stayed between 40-60 the whole time. It shifted good and had plenty of power pulling up the grades so I’d say it was a success lol

We leave to go back home in a week so we’ll see how she does going back but I’m pleased with the upgrades. Thanks everyone for your help!
