After chasing codes 0172 and 0172 for months, after trying new spark plugs and MAF, and after trying fuel system additives and checking wiring connections, my Tahoe developed a fuel leak near the gas tank. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pump and some "nearby hoses". They also "reprogramed the computer". She has been running perfectly for several months now with no codes or other problems. Many thanks to those who offered support and suggestions. Bill

Can you point to the other thread about this? Glad it is fixed. By the way, codes 0172 and 0172?

What are the Possible Causes of the Code P0172 GMC?

  • Dirty or Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
  • Intake Air Leaks
  • Exhaust Gas Leaks
  • Fuel Contamination
  • Faulty or Leaking Fuel Injectors
  • Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor
  • Ignition Misfiring
  • Incorrect Fuel Pressure
  • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Hose Leaks

REPROGRAMMED the computer? You mean cleared the "codes" or what?
