Typical. But "mom" may not have kept records; if she had it serviced at the same shop they might be able to get records from the shop. Kind of a hassle for the seller but, people underestimate how much good records or lack of records affects the value of a vehicle.

Every time I have asked about records, repairs or maintenance, and they do not have....the comeback is always, "This vehicle is 20+ years old. What do you expect? If you want like new, then buy a new vehicle". Then I have to remind them that the age has nothing to do with keeping records.

I believe that the Suburban is a legitimate vehicle to go after but I want the history of it and any other vehicle I would be interested in. He did say that the vehicle sat for 3-4 years. I said then, "Well, may have a rodent's nest or two and maybe wires chewed and I said that is a maybe, not a certainty. I also mentioned that some fluids are affected by time and not just mileage. he said that the oil was just changed and they did not mention seeing any problems. I then wanted to say that they were not told to look for problems or that it had sat for 3-4 years. At that point, I said good luck and shut down the conversation.
