2003 Yukon xl 1500

Hello all

I’m new to the forum and just got my 2003 Yukon

It is a Xl 1500 that is AWD

I put a set of rough country keys on
16x10 ion alloy wheels (bullet holes)
285/70/16 nitto ridge grapplers


Does the awd system have to readjust to the large wheels and tires?

I checked the front end and everything seemed okay

There is a bit of noise coming from the front end now and it has a shimmy in the steering wheel when the brakes are applied

I plan on having them rebalanced and an alignment done since I installed the keys

I’m new to the awd life so I don’t know anything about them!

Any help is appreciated

You changed the alignment when doing the keys. Larger wheels will exaggerate any suspension issues for sure. You toe-in has probably changed too which can make if feel like it's wandering.

Check brake rotot temps after a drive with an infra-red gun and see if they are similar. If one is much hotter, you have a caliper issue and that will cause the vibration from a rotor getting warped from the heat.

Larger tires also can accentuate a brake issue as well.

Get the tires balanced, alignment done, and you will probably be good. Might have to replace some front end parts in the process too

Yeah! It was the first time taking wheels off and front brakes looked great but rears are about to start making some noise so I’m gonna get them fixed up here very soon
