06 5.3 interchange question

I'm going in the am to buy a 06 5.3 for my 05 tahoe.Engine is super clean and has 62k miles.I'm guessing some have a egr and some dont?The 06 I'm looking at has it from passenger side exhaust,my 05 doesnt.Is this going to be a problem?I'm assuming just use all my current setup on the 06 correct??Thanks for any help,going to buy it early tomorrow.

I believe as long as you use the majority of your accessories from your motor it’s basically a direct bolt in. Ive not done this myself on on a tahoe but but ive put a newer lexus motor in an older camry and an older 81 dodge 318 into a newer 89 w250 pickup using all the wiring, Electronic fuel pump, etc from the 89. Just use everything off your motor and youll be alright inmo.

Is there any way to nail.down EXACTLY what year it is ,without a vin #,I have the cast #12551358 but it doesn't say the exact year.
