It can be done......a road trip experience

So, on a family trip to New Orleans...... The day of, I went over the Yukon. Tires, fluids, quick detail, etc. All checked out good. Hit the road and headed south. The Yukon is running well, returning almost 21 mpg at 75 - 85 mph. I'll take it! Fast forward to the last leg of the trip and...

Gonna let 6 young adults cruise to ATL in my "beater". Fingers crossed......

My oldest daughter is going to a Christian conference in Atlanta, GA. She was going to take her 2015 Fusion....we just put tires on 2 days ago. Well, on her way home from Madison, the exhaust broke after the catalytic converter as she turned onto our road. She called me about a strange...

    This may make you cringe.......

So, with truck prices in the stratosphere, I've thought about making my own truck. Around here in the midwest, escalade and Denali's xl are pretty cheap for city bombers. So.....I have debated buying a cheap one and cutting off the roof and gutting the interior to make a wood hauler. I think...

Quick and dirty flapper valve bypass

@SpyShops212 here's what you requested. This is what I did when trying to diagnose a "rattle" under acceleration. It ended up that the transmission was low on fluid after a service at GM and the pump was cavitating. But, inside the cab it had that weird rattle sound. I decided to eliminate...

    It still looks pretty

2017 Denali with about 138K. Wife's ride, finally got a wash after the fair, dust, and bug killing. I really think this is one if the best body styles. Gotta get another 100K out of it- with the wife's driving that may only be 3 to 4 years.......I may have to shoot for 300K based on the prices...

Interesting, clean project 2 door, 4x4 Tahoe for sale....6.5L diesel as well

Hey all, here's an interesting find if someone was looking for a project truck. It's a rust free 1998 Tahoe with a 6.5L diesel. It will need some interior love, but the rest looks quite good. The funny part is you'll have to come to WI to get a rust free starter kit......which don't come around...

Rattle noise after trans service - only when cold-ish and under light throttle.....hmmm

I have a 2017 yukon 6.2L, 8 speed. I had it in to get a trans flush, LOF, diff service, t-case service, and alignment. I normally do most of my maintenance but figured I'd throw the dealership a bone for helping me on some warranty needs. So, after getting the truck home and it sat...

    Diesel conversion

Not sure the correct area to post this, but here it goes.... Has anyone here ever done a diesel conversion to a gas powered rig? Specifically I'm looking at a Cummins 4BT going into the 88-98 K1500 body style with a manual trans. I like that body style and also like maximum efficiency...

    Rim rot. Wheel coating issues

Not sure of the right thread, so posted as general. I'd like discuss wheel rim rot (aka salt corrosion on wheels) I've had good luck over the years of staying on top of corrosion here in WI. I consider myself a pro.....not to toot my horn too loud. After many years of fighting it on customer...

    2017 Yukon mirror replacement...darn dog....tips and tricks

So, my wife doesn't use the side mirrors to back up........and then she was worried about the excited dog running around. Commence the backing up process.......they are 'supposedly' break away mirrors. But, you have to catch the whole mirror I guess, not the outer edge. I got a text about an...

    Fun in the snow!!!

I got to enjoy about 60 miles of backroads driving here in Southern WI. Most of the roads hadn't been plowed yet and were about 8 inches deep of powder snow, with some drifting to add more technical stuff. SO MUCH FUN! There's nothing like the quiet, smooth ride of fresh snow and watching it...

So, my wife picked up Italian beef for a work party in our 2017 Denali. All is well and good until one of the lids wasn't sealed and decided to burp out when making a turn. The second row center and passenge side footwell got soaked. It sat for about 4 hours while there until I was notified...

Overlanding - all years. General discussion and pics

Not sure if this is posted in the right spot or not. I'm looking to start a chain for members to share their overland builds and general info and observations with the Tahoe, yukon, suburban, yukon xl, Escalade, etc. used as an overlanding vehicle. I'm fairly new to it and have enjoyed the...

    Cooled seat conversion?

I have a 2008 Denali. Unfortunately this year didn't come with vented seats. Has anyone installed newer seats in the 2007-09 years? If so, what challenges did you have to overcome? I'm wondering if I can re-pin one if the heated seat connectors for power and still be able to use the door...
