I've run into each of these; most when vacationing in warmer climates, and no codes were present. In short:
Overheating and hot stumbling was caused by a weak fan clutch. The added heat caused the crank sensor to act up. Sadly, the clutch replacements bought at auto stores were stiff and...
Your going to have to do some parasitic drain testing as often as needed to catch the culprit since it appears to be a sporadic problem. There are many good YouTube videos showing various procedures. There's just too many modules and means that are known to kill a the battery on these trucks...
Best cheap setup IMO is a ELM knockoff (Bluetooth or Wifi) from Amazon (under $20) and Torque app for Android. I went with wifi to use with laptop as well. The live data on O2 sensors and fuel trim is well worth it.
What truck and year do you have?
On mine it would be fuse 14 (10 amp) in the side fuse box under the drivers door pillar.
Also check the dimmer wheel near the light switch over your left knee.
Yes.
There are typically 3 doors in the front not counting whatever they put in for DUAL Climate Control (His&Hers).
A Temperature door to blend hot air from heater core and cool air from the evaporator.
A directional door that swings from dash vents to floor vents to defroster vents...
If the compressor is physically the same you will be fine. Use the orifice and accumulator for your year.
Don't scrimp on flushing the lines and stuff. The rear air may use a TX valve like the '02 and, unlike the front orifice, does not have a screen protecting it. See if you can get air...
Mine was just a magnetic switch that was tripped by a float sealed in the container. When I had to replace mine, the Pick-a-Part replacement I found did not have the switch so I jumpered the plug to get rid of the dash nag.
Front Hot / Cold blend door actuator or dirty front freon orifice would be my bet.
If the compressors cycles constantly you could just be too low or hi on freon.
Maybe the rear bass amplifier is wired on. I recall Circuit City had issue with it when they wired my head unit. I think they wired the amp's trigger line to the radios power antenna lead to get it working right.
Next time yer under the truck grab the drivers torsion bar at the back and jerk it up and down. Possibly an overlooked bushing there.
Good luck. Chasing noises is the worst way to kill time.
IRC the rapid light is limp mode. The rest sounds like what I had with a bad intake gasket. Have the trouble codes read and it will prolly have misfire and lean condition.
Use the Fel-Pro problem solver blue gaskets if you do them and check the knock sensors while the intake is off.
Yeah. bad cats will do that and so will a weak fuel pump/regulator. Get a fuel pressure gauge on a long hose and tape it to the windshield and see if pressure is normal when this happens.
Today was a nice day and my front end parts were not delivered :(
So, I did oil change, chassis lube and replaced the original serpentine belt. 200k on it. It was stretched 1.5 inches, light wear and I only did it cuz it started squeaking.
Then I repaired headlight housing that I broke...
If you nudging it then I would suspect shaft corrosion.
With wiper motor off manually pull up on the arm. There should be a small amount of easy play (1/4 inch or so). If the play feels stiff you need to disassemble the motor unit, clean and re-lube the shaft.
Troublesome trouble light
Bearing breaks
Cramped space
Colorful metaphors...
This was so much like what I go through each time I work on Fred that I had a knot on the head, 6 scraped knuckles and a sore back just from watching this. :)
Thanks for the post!
It is time :emotions122:
Has anyone replaced these with the Monroe (ick) or KYB units?
I Googled my a$$ off and any post where someone considered it, they never posted back with reviews or experiences.
I know I could do the Bilstien conversion but I don't want a harsher ride or add air...
Disconnect the EVO steering sensor at the bottom of the steering column and see if the swerving goes away.
Google for more EVO info.
Have the Pittman and idler arms checked.
Stop flooring it and don't drive on the freeway.
