The more distance you have, the higher the ride height and install length will be. Drop it to 150MM or so and they will slide right in. Then just raise the perch once installed to your desired ride height.
Hey Tony, I never got a notification on your replies - thanks for the offer. I just said to hell with 'recommendations' and put the perch height where it needed to be so the truck was sitting how i wanted it to. They ride much better than the drop shocks (they were due to be replaced after 7...
Could you measure from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender? That is the measurement that tires wont affect, and what Belltech has had me measuring each time.
HI all, I have a 2008 Escalade ESV and have used the NorcallSS 4/6 drop kit for quite a while. It's been great, but after 8 years I figured the shocks were due for replacement.
The original setup was:
Belltech drop shocks
Belltech drop spindles
22" Wheels - 285/45/22 Nitto 420V
Fender to...
With the 305s, the truck had basically a half inch of travel before it would rub, and that is after cutting a good portion of the inner fender out. It would rub the firewall side well before full lock, and all the plastic is worn away. I have to spray some paint to cover the exposed metal...
On another note - the reason I got different tires was because Discount Tire said that the 305s were too big for a 9.5" wheel, despite having put 2 sets of them on the truck in the past. I had only called because their website wouldn't let me order them for an Escalade and I figured it was a way...
The 285/40/22s worked out perfect. Having a shorter sidewall means it rubs less. Yes, they are a bit narrower than the 305s, but not enough to make much of a difference.
Had to get new wheels to fit the brakes
A 22" wheel makes any rotor look small but they are 16".
What made you use a cathedral port cam on rectangle heads, or did they just send you a messed up sheet? Did Vinci say what kind of power gain you could expect when running it with stock manifolds and cats? Seems like it will choke out very early.
My Optima red top just kicked the bucket the day before Thanksgiving. 4 years old and had 230 CCAs. I would have gone with another one but they have increased too much in price to justify it. I paid $183 4 years ago and now they are $269! That's more than 10% annual inflation which is crazy...
That looks great! Might have to move to a 285/40. I was concerned about ride quality going to a shorter sidewall - how is it? The 285/45 is even a bit taller than the 305/40 which I didn't care for. Here's the only pic I have of her truck right now - 2008 Escalade ESV
The wheels are 2Crave...
I haven't noticed any rubbing on the sway bar, but on the front liner near the firewall - its pretty much rubbed the plastic away. It only happens on turns, and my fear is that going to a tire that is 1/2 taller sidewall will have it rub at even less steering angle.
I think the other option is...
Is anyone running a 305/45/22 with a 5/7 drop? I have some rubbing already with a 305/40/22 and didn't want to make it worse, but apparently Nitto's "approved rim width" is 9.5 for the 45 series and 10" for the 40, despite the fact that I've been running 40s on a 9.5 wide wheel FOREVER.
I know...

What is the current turnaround time on tuning requests? I got a fairly quick response about getting a tune update - 3 days, but it's now been a full week since I sent the datalogs in for the tune and have yet to get a response. I know response is generally slow, but I didn't it recall being this...
Found a good custom shop that too care of installing the muffler. Took about 15 minutes and fit perfect. They also installed the flange from the stock y pipe into my speed engineering y pipe. It sure parts to have the right tools and skilled people doing work.
I was out of town and my buddy's text didn't translate well. The sway bar is touching the panhard bar mount, and has even worn away some of the sway bar.
With the chassis lifted, you can see how much has rubbed away:
I have the DJM endlinks and everything was moved over to fit - I need to...
Not your typical rubbing. The hard brake line on the axle was rubbing on the exhaust and ended up wearing thru. The rubber lines were also rubbing.
I've been out of town but my buddy said that the sway car is rubbing on the rear end as well.
Anyone have these kind of issues at this amount of drop?
Those pics help, thanks. I take it since you are using clamps you didn't weld them together? Did you have to use any spare 3.5" pipe, or did those clamps give you enough wiggle room?
Would you have a link to those clamps by chance? If I can avoid welding, I'll DIY this sucker.
Or, does anyone have an installed picture that's not at an angle? The only pictures I've seen are at a goofy angle where you can't see how anything sits.
I can't believe I'm in hillbilly SC and can't find a shop that can easily do this.
Hey @NORCAL SS, I got a 12909 muffler and there is no way it will fit with the center/offset rather than offset/offset. Is there a different muffler that needs to be used for an ESV? I have a 2008 Escalade ESV and the 12909 is just not able to line up. I long ago got rid of the resonator for the...
