    lower rather than lift?

My 2004 SLT 4WD has leveling keys and 285 all terrains on the stock 16's. I intended to start working toward a 2 or 3" lift set up on this rig, but I rarely leave the pavement and started to wonder if lowering might be more my thing. Honestly, I'm a little tired of the rough ride it has now...

2004 Yukon power loss then normal

lol - yeah, no distributor on this and there is a fuel filter on the frame rail since I do have the 5.3 flex fuel.

2004 Yukon power loss then normal

I've got a new fuel filter and will be installing it this weekend. I haven't done it on this rig before so I figure it's maintenance I need anyway. Plugs and wires are in good shape. A friend has a scanner and I'll borrow that this weekend to see if anything is pending. It's been running...

2004 Yukon power loss then normal

I have a 2004 Yukon 4WD with 210k miles and it's been bulletproof reliable for the past 2 years I've owned it. Running perfectly fine as usual on a 1.5 hour trip tonight, I then made a stop for about 20 mins. Got back in and fired it up, got 100 feet down the road and it started bogging and...

    spacers and bearings

Thanks - that's what I was thinking. Although I wouldn't mind the wheels a touch further out, I'll keep my stock setup!

    spacers and bearings

Do wheel spacers damage your wheel bearings over time? Or is it a non-issue?

    Which 5100's?

Great looking rig! Thanks for the pic, that helps give me reference. My front end sits just slightly higher than the rear so I'm hoping the Z71 springs give it more of a stance like that.

    Which 5100's?

Thanks! Are those the Z71's in back with level kit up front in your thumbnail pic there?

    Which 5100's?

Hey all - On my 2004 Yukon 4x4 I am replacing the rear springs/nivomats with a set of Z71 springs I picked up. I found that there are different versions or sizes of the 5100 Bilstein shocks, so how can I tell which specific one I need to work with the Z71 springs? For the front, the PO says it...

    Z71 and Nivomat?

I appreciate the tips on the Nivomat check. On the front shocks, what is the implication of the premium smooth ride? I've read that with lift or leveling kit that the longer shock (ie the 5100's) are a good way to go. Is it better to stick with stock?

    Z71 and Nivomat?

Thanks - I bought this Yukon last spring with 199k and I have 209k on it now. I'm going to assume the Nivomats are original and I haven't checked them out yet. The PO had put a leveling kit up front so my front end is just ever so slightly higher than the back, and I figured why not go the...

    Z71 and Nivomat?

I picked up a set of rear Z71 springs but haven't gotten new 5100's yet to replace the Nivomats that are on my Yukon right now. Is there any downside to putting in the Z71 springs for now until I get the Bilsteins?

    Z71 roof rack?

Thanks - I am getting some rear springs off a 2006 Z71 that someone is parting out, and the roof rack caught my eye.

    Z71 roof rack?

Hi all - will a roof rack from a 2006 Z71 Tahoe be a direct bolt in on a 2004 Yukon? From what I can tell I think so, but I am not certain.

    Alternator or Battery?

Well, new battery, new idler pulley, and new alternator and I'm back in business. The alternator turned out to be the problem after all.

    Alternator or Battery?

Thanks for that reply and article. I'll definitely check the grounds. And is the regulator built into the alternator?

    Alternator or Battery?

Wondering if anyone has insights here on this problem.....2004 Yukon, start it up, battery light on and gauge reads about 11 volts. Rev engine and it goes up to 14.5v or so and stays there even after the engine comes back down to idle. I can turn the engine off and on again with the gauge...

    Exhaust tip opinions wanted

As I look at the pics you put in the first post on this thread, I imagined the single piece cut in half and separated a few inches (making two ports that are still in the center area). I think that may look better than a single port.

    2004 Yukon bench seat

Tan leather, 2nd row, pretty close to excellent shape. I was going to ask $200 but I was pretty sure captains chairs were more sought after than bench.

    2004 Yukon bench seat

Hi all - how much is a leather bench seat worth? I swapped it out for captains chairs and I'm going to list the bench on ebay, but can't seem to find many out there to estimate what it's worth. Thanks in advance.

    2nd row buckets

Update - I didn't get the Yukon buckets I was after but I did get a set of Denali buckets for an excellent price and they fit perfect. Trying to decide now if I should save the bench or sell it.

    2nd row buckets

I found some on facebook for $350 but haven't gotten them yet. The owner thinks they will fit but I'm not sure what they came out of. They look exactly like what I see in stock photos for the Yukon, though, so I was going to go check them out and be sure they fit before I bought them. Not...

    2nd row buckets

I've got a 2004 Yukon with the bench seat in the middle. I am looking at a set of 2nd row buckets and wondered, do they recline at all? Also, for those that have 2nd row buckets, would a third row passenger be easily able to use the space between the 2nd row buckets for extra legroom?

Transfer case fluid - a problem?

Thanks - it looks like about a couple quarts came out, and none was red so I don't think I have a tranny leak into the transfer case.

Transfer case fluid - a problem?

I bought a 2004 Yukon 4x4 about 6 months ago. I'm changing the transfer case fluid today and got Valvoline synthetic transfer case fluid (says it's Auto Trak II compatible) since I have NP8 in my build sheet. I dropped the old fluid and it looks like not-too-dirty engine oil or gear oil. I...
