    2001 Tahoe 4wd theory

My 2001 does have Auto but no traction control.

Are there any OEM/aftermarket driver's grab handles ?

I know the feeling. It's bad enough to climb in on a lifted truck let alone on a steep incline or something. I wish there was an "oh shit" handle.

Yea I was hoping for an easy swap, don't really want to go full custom! Actually I do, but my wallet won't let me! Thanks.

    Piggyback Shocks

Is anybody with a lift running remote reservoir shocks? There was someone who posted pics but I think it was only in the rear. Most sights say for XL , 2500 or won't fit.

Will only switch out of 2wd in neutral

Maybe I'm not understanding your post but you're supposed to be in N when you change to 4H ,4L, and back to 2H. As for Auto, the only time I used it, I engaged it while climbing a hill then I lost my front diff. The fork got bent I assume it's because I was moving while it kicked in. I know...

I took it for a ride this past weekend just for that purpose

    Engine oil life indicator--reliable?

It's mainly outside but in patrial shade. I always date and write the mileage on the filter when I change the oil and last time it was a year old with only a few hundred miles. Yea, probably at least once a year should be OK. Heck it's probably time to do it!

    Engine oil life indicator--reliable?

Question.... My ride sits a lot, I mean A LOT! It'll actually take years for me to hit 5000 miles. With full synthetic how often should the oil be replaced? 6 months?

01 Tahoe 5.3 tick then goes away

Do you drive it every day? Mine sits for weeks at a time and I have that ticking at start up too (not every time). Couldn't be an exhaust leak because it goes away before the engine would get hot enough to seal it. Neighbor has it as well and they too don't drive it every day. I'm thinking the...

Squeaks and Creeks after Leveling Kit…

I had an annoying squeek going over bumps. I finally tracked it down to the front sway bar end link bushings. No more squeeks.

    3.42 with 35s?

My crappy mpg is most likely due to the engine needing some lovin. The last few trips I've had to fuel up more than usual. My previous post wasn't meant to mean that 4.56 will make mpg suffer, it's the whole package like Mudsport said. Also, I carry a lot of weight in the back (spare tire...

    3.42 with 35s?

I have 4.56 . Yes, long drives empties the tank quicker than desirable but the pep is outstanding! Offroad I see no negatives. Plenty of torque .

    Ac Belt Tensioner Pulley

It had an intermittent metal on metal sounding noise last week. Then the other day it got louder and more frequent. Then finally I heard a chirp and then nothing. I knew the belt had snapped. Could barely turn the pulley by hand. Took it off and it basically fell apart. The AC works great...

    Ac Belt Tensioner Pulley

Thanks. Yea it's the smooth one. I'll try to turn the compressor , see if that's the culprit. The spring on the tensioner seems pretty strong still. Thanks again.

    Ac Belt Tensioner Pulley

Hey all, my AC tensioner pulley recently seized and I'm having trouble trying to find the right part. Even AC Delco site only shows idler pulley. I dont need the tensioner, just the pulley. Also, most searches say it's for the 5.3 1500. Same exact engine, right? Any help is much appreciated.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I had an issue recently while going up a mountain to do some snow wheeling. Every hard right turn I would here a rubbing noise, almost like a power steering pump whine, coming from driver's side front. While wheeling, (some aggressive steering and what not) the abs light came on for a while but...
