    $1 dealer lien on vehicle

Yeah, you want to read and understand all the contracts you sign. Nonetheless it’s sneaky and underhanded if they don’t highlight that during the deal making. If I was presented a contract like that I’d just strike through the offending paragraph before signing. Or no deal. Most consumers are...

Engine Cover dress up: Which one?

To my eye 3 has the most cohesive look.

    2009 Denali/Front diff question....

Have you had any work done in a shop lately? Hourly rates are north of $150/hour in most places now. You are correct I’m sure, that DIY would save a bunch. If a person can handle the gear setup, which as you say isn’t brain surgery. But it is fussy and requires precision and patience and may be...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My dash was in bad shape when purchased, and my observation was akin to @Rocket Man , the material in many places was brittle and so weak that my attempts at repair were just enlarging the damage as often as not. I bit the bullet and replaced it with a new one as well as the part in front under...

    2003 Tahoe/4.56 gears on 33s?

I had the H3 which was factory equipped with 33’s and 4.56 using the same transmission. It was great. And still capable to cruise at freeway speeds all day long.

Transmission swap - need to do anything with TCM?

So the TCM is internal in this generation of trans? I learned something today.

    Towing 10k with 2500 Suburban

A big lift and towing at 100% of capacity is a recipe for risk and unpleasant driving experience. Also seldom mentioned is the maximum tow rating is achieved with minimal cargo weight in the vehicle almost always. Loading up the interior with people and gear will detract from what’s left for...

Turning off or modifying traction control?

If you have HPT I’m pretty sure you have the needed tool. Unfortunately it’s been too many years since I used that tool to give you any specific, meaningful directions. HPT used to have a good forum back when I was into it, so if there’s no expert here available you may find a resource there.

    Tahoe and Yukon front diff

Not going to work, the AWD Tahoe does not have the circuitry to engage the front diff actuator from the Yukon. You will just have RWD and that’s going to wipe out the AWD transfer case.

What oil brand & type is GM putting in our 5.3L SUVs?

Hey, you forgot to include the standard deviation on the OLM for the last five years. ;)

What oil brand & type is GM putting in our 5.3L SUVs?

I use most often a NAPA gold filter, but I’m not against alternatives. I don’t ever buy the cheapest filter in any brand line because they won’t have the better valves and media. Whatever oil is on sale/ cheaper with the Dexos certification. Most important thing, IF you’re one of those who...

What oil brand & type is GM putting in our 5.3L SUVs?

I researched this over on BITOG a few years back when I bought a new GM vehicle, and the consensus was the Dexos spec is so tightly written that brand was irrelevant. So I‘ve since bought by that certification label for GM engines and I don’t discriminate on brand. I’m familiar with that Ram...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Not big enough, LOL. Would you believe the kids in the detail shop tried to skip waxing the roof? But I wasn’t born yesterday, so I always check on top. All they did was screw themselves out of a nice tip, if I hadn’t had to point out that “oversight“. And yeah, they had ladders in the shop.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Took her to the spa today. Waxed. Tire shine, probably the first time ever since built.

How important is a C Load Tyre?

E will absolutely give a harsher ride, even at lower pressure, the carcass is stiffer. I say this from personal experience on multiple vehicles.

    MPG ??

Upgrades? No. That’s a fantasy. Repairs or maintenance, maybe, IF it’s not performing as it should. There’s insufficient information in your first post to give any meaningful feedback. How about some numbers and some history?

    Advise on 1st mods

I’d take a UTV or an ATV personally. Just too many vulnerable parts under a road vehicle. For a Yukon I’d armor as much underneath as possible. One stump, stick, or cactus spine into the wrong part and it could leave it disabled or damaged. If you are determined to have one that’s roadworthy...

    Building the SS(V) TrailHoe

I ordered it from my local dealer. I know a lot of people hate on dealers, but these guys give me a discount from list prices and I support them with my parts business. Then when I run into something I can’t, or don’t want to work on, I have an ongoing relationship and the service guys take...

    Advise on 1st mods

Clarify “serious“ off-roading. I do some difficult trails myself, but is an IFS GM up to the task of hard core trails requiring lockers, big tires, and winches? No, it is not. It would be helpful to know what kinds of trails you have in mind, the GM is probably a better mud or sand machine than...

    The twin hoes

I’m glad you surfaced this topic; I need to order some red lights for my vehicles. I’ve done it in the past, and had sort of forgotten how good they were. My eyes need all the night vision help they can get!

    Is my Tahoe lifted?

Find a stock vehicle and measure from the center of the wheels up to the edge of the fender for comparison. That takes all the wheel and tire variables out of the equation. There are some variations in stock heights; 2WD/ 4wd , Z71 etc . So you’ll want a comparably equipped vehicle to compare.

Low Oil Pressure on Longer Drives

I wouldn’t expect any sludge with a 3k OCI. Are you seeing any smoke to accompany the excessive oil consumption? The most curious thing is your hot oil pressure is higher than cold. That’s backwards from normal.

Low Oil Pressure on Longer Drives

Paragraphs! Can you be more explicit on “changing the oil on time”; is that by the OLM, 10k, 5k, or what? Reason I ask is it has a big input in sludge formation. I would do the easy diagnostic test as suggested by @swathdiver because at that age and mileage the O-ring is highly suspect. 2wd...
