Hi everyone. Considering upgrade to a high output alternator for my 2009 Suburban 2500 and have some gaps in understanding. Very much appreciate any insights you can provide.
Background
- OEM KG3 145 AMP Alternator
- Dual Interstate MTZ-48 H6 AGM batteries (70Ah each) in parallel with ACR

A few updates for the thread, excluding the electrical work.
Installed a Cargo Glide 1800HD that mounted directly to the third row seat brackets. They have a sub-model that fits the 2007-2013 Suburban cargo area you can reference the "CG1000-6347 Suburban Frame Layout" when ordering. Best to...
JS73 - Wow what a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing. Very cool concept with mobile on demand starting.
Work had me distracted lately and I see it's been some months since I engaged here. Actually had the system installed by a local car audio specialist before seeing this post...
Thanks everyone. Definitely planning to replace the + / - battery cables. Unfortunately the dealerships aren't able to find the cables for dual battery with my VIN since my vehicle was OEM with single battery.
Anyone have a VIN with two factory batteries circa 2009 I could use to direct...
Wondering if anyone can solve this puzzle?
Towing on the freeway last weekend and used wipers for the first time in my new to me 2009 Suburban 2500. Each of the four times I turned the wipers on within a few seconds the entire electrical system went dead and rebooted and the engine stuttered...
Likely the Cargo Glide 1800HD. We think they have a frame layout that utilizes the stock third row seat mounts. Will report back.

About to add:
- Aux battery
- Onboard Air Compressor
- Inverter
- Cargo Glide
Headlight went out and it appears we have to drop the bumper for access so think about upgrade to LED lights. Seeing some mixed reviews but maybe the GTR Ultra 2 will work with the reflector lens? Also looking for...
Good tips. Didn't realize I had a dual tank and dual pumps. Anything I should know about this setup? Fuel pumps were notoriously bad on the 02 Tahoe I had.

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right directly. I feel good about the overall design concept and am no longer worried about the EPM/ RVC.
Will work with a local shop on the installation so it gets done right. Will report back.
Just wish the 2nd row seating had clearance for the...
Thanks, everyone. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

Seems this is a hidden or boring topic...
After a bit of research and wire tracing I am reasonably certain of the current wiring:
Primary Battery Grounds (2)
Battery cable to engine block
Light wire to passenger side lower bumper frame (??)
Primary Battery Hot Leads (2)
Battery cable direct...
Guess I should add about the Wheels and Tires:
Wheels - MB Legacy 17" alloy wheels
Tires - Cooper Discoverer AT3 (LT275/70R17)
The front tire fit is quite tight. When I first received the truck the tires would rub slightly with sharp turns on uneven surfaces. After installing the shocks, and...
Hi everyone. Trying to add an auxiliary battery system to my 2009 Suburban 2500 and hitting some snags. Very much appreciate any insights you can provide.
The general plan is simple:
- Add second battery for auxiliary items and to serve as backup to the starter battery
- Isolator / Combiner

Long time reader first time poster haha...
After a great deal of research I finally found and purchased a GMT900 3/4 ton suburban. Part way into the upgrades and thought I would share to give back to the community.
Bought this to replace a 2002 Tahoe Z71 tow vehicle and have to say the...
