100K Mile Maintenance
RPB, I have a 2007 5.3 LT that was using about 3 qts between 5K mile oil changes. I took the Tahoe to a mechanic with a laptop to program the engine module. Towing capacity
Look at your tire pressure prior to towing. If it shows 44 PSI MAX, I would set it at 44 to give the tires less flex and maintain the coolest temp you could have on those tires. Plugged screen, also had the Mech change out the sensor while he was there. He left off the screen as I have the V4/V8 mode disabled. It would go thru 3 to 5 qts of oil between changes. Folks, here is what I did. Placed the truck on a hill, added 2 quarts of oil, put ramps in front of the rear tires and pulled up on the ramps. New to this forum with 2007 Tahoe
Engine warning light and oil pressure gauge went to near 0 pressure. No valve lifter noise, no temp increase, no indication that oil pressure had dropped. 1 minute after startup, oil drops from 30 psi to 0 psi. No indication of pressure loss (lifter clatter, knocking, etc). 72K on the engine driven pretty easy overall.
