89Suburban I'm not big on rite in reviews on stuff but I'll see what I can do.
Rocket Man you are right, Android HUs are close but needs improvement. But they are a pretty go place to start. (In my case, end, since I start my audio systems with the speakers and what will power them (amps)...
I like my tunes so I always upgrade to an audio system that I like.
2019 and older car and truck audio systems usually suck. I don't have anything newer than a 2015 so I upgrade.
I like the 'no moving parts' and price of android HUs. Lots of features. And I can afford them.
I'm old school so...
OK Big2014Baby here is the solution to your audio issue.

You sound like a person who can follow the instructions and be up and running in about 2-4 hours.
This beats chasing electrons and has RCA...
I have to add...since my android HU has no moving parts it should last (like an old tablet computer). Heat is the biggest killer of a well built android computer. I live in the midwest so no extreme temperatures (knock on wood again).
My experience with those inexpensive (not cheap) android head units (HU) you get on Amazon has been great. About 4 years ago I stuffed a $98, 9 inch touch screen android HU I got on Amazon in my 02 Silverado. The HU drives four door speakers and has NAV, WiFi, BT, CarPlay, and backup camera. I...
Wow looks like you are having fun doing some great troubleshooting. I still recommend going with a nice upgraded touch screen audio system. With your apparent technical capability you could go simple and just replace the head unit (HU) (cost from about $125 and up) or go for a full replacement...
Also check your door speakers and speaker wires for signs of moisture/rust. But I'm with Blackelky. I replaced my 02 Silverado radio with a 7" android touchscreen system with Nav, Bluetooth (cell phone connection) and a USB flash drive with 700 of my favorite songs on it and a few video. Got...
Sounds (no pun intended) like the Dual was put in just to sell the 2dr. Check the door speakers to see if they are connected and in good condition. Depending on how much sound you want, the amp in the Pioneer should drive a pair of door speakers and a pair of rear speaker.
Post some pictures...
Jeff I'm restoring a 2 dr work truck (rear barn doors and no rear side panels). Haven't got it running yet. I plan to find/make rear side panels and put 6.5s in both sides. For the sub I plan to adapt a rear panel from a 4 dr. Not sure how I will do it but that's the plan.
Post some...
That speaker is NOT okay. It is ready for the trash.
For your sub.. you have some options.
- You can replace that existing 8" sub with a new 8" sub just like you replaced the door speakers.
- You indicated 'No amp, just a box and a crappy sub.'
That box and sub will need some kind of amp...
Same here. I have an ATOTO A6 android system. It's really an android tablet made for your car. I download the apps that a use from the google app store....a music player, a video player, a nav system, and a engine monitoring system. No CD/DVD player which means no moving parts. I converted...
This is not a recommendation but Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer (DEH-P47DH) and others make/made 1.5 din radios that would fit. But I don't think they would be as feature rich as the 2 din counter parts. I have a 99 2 door Tahoe project that I will be upgrading to 2 din. Do a search on this and...
