    Soaked Floorboard Fix (Hopefully)

Great posting, very informative. We also have a passenger side floor pan soaking wet. My husband and I just bought the truck and noticed this problem, so have no history or any info at all. Our problem is a little different, hopefully we can fix it or at least figure out what might have...

    New body old body fixup

For what its worth, here's my story on an '02 Tahoe, 18 years, 220k miles of Michigan salt: we have rust and plenty of it. While the previous posts focus on the panels, the underbody is important to consider. My husband and sons do most of our maintenance but we have a shop to take care of...

    Is this vehicle TOO big?

I bought a 2002 tahoe in 2008 to tow a camping trailer. I got used to this very quickly. I love how nimble it is, and mine doesn't even have a rear camera. 220000 miles and 12 years later, we all love it. I am able to parallel park, squeeze into any normal size space, and once crossed 4 lanes of...

    Any tips for better mpg

That's great to hear. However, the trucks are not comparable. Big differences between 2016 and the '02 I drive. My 5.3 engine, properly maintained at 218,000 miles, will get max 17 mpg - that's highway ideal conditions, 65 mph. So 13.3 is a tad higher than what I get in winter, snow tires, short...

High Mileage Invest Money Or Not?

I'm at 216K in my "02 so I think i crossed that bridge! As others said, the big question is if you like it. There are kits and aftermarket stuff that make it easy to fix these vehicles. And mine is still fun and easy to drive. And looks good because wax is cheap! Downsides: I found sometimes...

Front diff has some major problems...what should I start doing?

If you can drive something else while the truck is in for repairs, financially it will never make sense to buy another truck. Do the math on the cost of the new vehicle compared to these repairs and you will see. If you like this, then just fix it. Math says never sell a vehicle that suits you...

Seeking prefered methods to catch dripping oil

Same. My '02 rear seal went at 175k. I'm at 215k now.

Lifter tick when cold? Berryman B12?

I hope this isn't your problem, but see if my story helps you. I have an '02 with 5.3 that developed a similar problem at about the same mileage or even sooner. The noise got gradually worse. Eventually, I noticed when under load (i.e., towing or fully jammed with college moving, etc) the tap...

    Picked up a z71...

Thats a nice looking vehicle, for sure! Do you mind if I ask, did you check out the new Expedition? I read a review that said Ford had finally surpassed GM in this segment. In my dreams where I have mucho deniro, the Expedition is what I have been considering.

Weird smell when A/C is turned on

IMO there is no rhyme nor reason to OEM inclusion of these cabin air filters. I also have an '02 Tahoe with a filter. ?? On a related note, we have a 2006 300C that had no filter, so we bought a used one from, I think, a Challenger, which fit right in. Youda thunk a luxury sport sedan would...

    2001 GMC Yukon Starting Issues

Theres a switch in the gearshift that detects the trans is in P or N. If that went then you would have this problem. Just a suggestion.

07-14 No Cabin Air Filter - is this correct?

Adding the cabin air filter is a smart move. My 2002 has it, but 2006 Chrysler 300C, not! My husband added it using parts we picked up on eBay. We had a big improvement in air quality and sig less dirt accumulation on the dash. Win!

    Its Cheaper to Keep Her

I also have an '02, just rolled 210K. I have a couple of tips for your interior. When my driver's seat started to get that crushed look and the rear seats were softening, I had an interior guy replace the foam in the seat cushions (bottom only), front and rear, $575, 6 hour job. They are...

    Denali drives like crap

I had this. Check power steering feedback sensor, or steering gearbox. These problems delay the feedback and therefore you get shake and shimmy, can be severe, will happen at high speed not so much at low speed. It's dangerous. Fix it, a good repair shop can fix it.
