    6.0L to 8.1L swap advice

Gotcha. How much power are you making with the cam upgrade?

    6.0L to 8.1L swap advice

Tbh I don't want to spend a lot of money on mods. I'd rather have a turnkey engine...plus I'm not looking for tons of power. The only thing I would need at this point is an engine hoist and some time to swap. However if I were to mod, what would you recommend that would match 496 performance?

    6.0L to 8.1L swap advice

I have a 6.0L and 8.1L suburban 2500 both completely intact. Here are the specs: 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500HD 4x4 174,000 miles (6.0L) 2003 Chevy Suburban 2500HD 2WD 164,000 miles (8.1L) To be honest I don't need both, and want to sell one. However, I like the 4WD...

NEED HELP!! Diagnosing loose U-Joints and oil leak (Video provided)?

Just wondering, is that rotation play in the front drive shaft normal? Am I supposed to move it back and forth like that?

NEED HELP!! Diagnosing loose U-Joints and oil leak (Video provided)?

I haven't tried that yet. The fluids I haven't checked either besides oil and transmission fluid. That would be a good idea. I need to get some jack stands and a volunteer to analyze from underneath the vehicle.

NEED HELP!! Diagnosing loose U-Joints and oil leak (Video provided)?

Wow, that’s pretty loud. I haven’t heard it from outside, but inside it’s not that loud. Just a slight clunk, but I can feel the engagement and disengagement.

NEED HELP!! Diagnosing loose U-Joints and oil leak (Video provided)?

It’s my guess that the clunk when shifting from reverse to drive and vice versa comes from the play in that shaft that I was grabbing. Not sure if it’s a huge deal or not, but I don’t want to come across a catastrophic failure in the near future if I continue to leave it as is.

NEED HELP!! Diagnosing loose U-Joints and oil leak (Video provided)?

2001 suburban 2500 4x4 6.0 When I shift into reverse, I hear a slight thud with a split second hesitation. Also, when I take off, I hear a slight tinny grinding noise which goes away after hitting 10mph. What could it be? I also have this oil leak. It leaks a palm sized puddle every two days...

    Can an 8.1L drop right in a 6.0L 2500 4x4 chassis+body?

I have an 8.1L (2x4) and a 6.0L (4x4) Suburban 2500. The 8.1L is getting a bit rusty and and contemplating selling it as is, but could probably utilize the more powerful engine with my less rusty 6.0L body and chassis. Will it drop right in? If so, what would I need to swap?

Engine palpitating at idle (thumping sound)

I'm not sure how old the plugs are. I bought it last month and it seemed everything that I could check was good. I would have to take a plug out to get a look. I have no idea what the condition is on the fuel filter.

Engine palpitating at idle (thumping sound)

I hooked up a scanner and no codes were thrown. I've never used injector cleaner.

    Vibration at 70mph

Are there any check engine lights? Check the fluid in the transfer case (top it off until it is right beneath the plug). Do the same with the rear diff.

Engine palpitating at idle (thumping sound)

I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0L. It has 174k miles and drives fine, BUT I seem to notice a weird intermittent engine stuttering/palpitating sensation when idling. No check engine codes (I even hooked up the OBD2 to make sure). It is strange, because it seems like it's skipping a beat...

    Should I keep the 8.1L or 6.0L?

The 8.1L has the 4L85e, which I believe is a bit smaller than the Allison in size. I could swap out the electronics completely if needed (ECM and all). I would just need to wait until spring and dedicate a couple of weekends to get everything out and swapped.

2003 Suburban with a ton of miles... CHEAP.

I sold a Yukon XL to an Alaskan last month for a good deal. Quite the coincidence that he is Alaskan as well, but I suppose they travel out of state for those gnarly purchases.

    Body swap 1500 to 2500 with 4wd?

I would just sell it and buy one that is 4x4. Way cheaper and it will save you a lot of headaches. You can find tons of deals on FB marketplace.

2003 Suburban with a ton of miles... CHEAP.

I see that now, but I stand by what I said. Kind of late now, but I think he should know. more $$$ spent in the long run which would negate getting a cheap vehicle to begin with.

    Should I keep the 8.1L or 6.0L?

Do you think I can drop an 8.1L in a 2500 body built for the 6.0L and it would fit properly? Do you think it could hook up to the transfer case?

2003 Suburban with a ton of miles... CHEAP.

I wouldn't get it. You can find plenty of Suburbans and Yukons on Facebook Marketplace for $2000-$3000 in way better condition and won't have to fork out another $1500 for a rebuild. Plus, it has a lot of miles...and it can get unpredictable at that stage. Look around more. You'll find a better...

    Should I keep the 8.1L or 6.0L?

I have the following: '03 Suburban 2500 LT 8.1L 2x4 w/ 164,000 miles '01 Suburban 2500 LT 6.0L 4x4 w/ 174,000 miles I have a video on youtube showing the condition of these two 'burbans. I can't really justify keeping the two as I don't have much space and don't really tow anymore. I love...

Deciding on how to clean up rust (video included)

Would you have any idea how much it would be to remove the body from the frame and sandblast the frame and undercarriage of the body?

Deciding on how to clean up rust (video included)

I recently got a 2003 chevy suburban 2500 w/ the 8.1L vortec. One of the big deciding factors was the engine...it's hard to find nowadays and for cheap. Video: excuse the editing, I threw it together really quick. Anyway, it is pretty rusty underneath and on the rocker panels and rear quarter...

Market Value of 05-06 Yukon XLT/Denali

It turns out I paid 5k for an ‘05 Yukon XL SLT (not an ‘06 as previously thought). On the upside, it does have low mileage at 106,000 and has the tow pkg and every option minus the rear captain chairs. Now, me being a guy who is always looking at the next best thing, I’ve had my eye on an ‘05...
