Downside to installing the Corvette Servo?

I've always wanted to install one, cheap and easy upgrade. BUT, I have had TWO (2) Tahoe's shatter the sun shell's without any modifications. Both were factory transmissions 4wd's. One was a '98 with the manual shift 4wd, and one was a '99 with the push button 4wd. The '98 Tahoe grenaded the...

Brake Pedal Pulsing And Wheel Pulling Occasionally

Darn! I forgot all about that, you are absolutely right. I've seen it at least 3 times over the years, one side hose is shot and somehow blocks fluid return or pressure. The first time took forever to figure out...before computers and youtube. Good post!

Brake Pedal Pulsing And Wheel Pulling Occasionally

I've had warped rotors a few times in my life, the wobble matches your speed, high speed braking makes fast steering wheel vibration, low speed makes vehicle surge and slow steering wheel wobble. You said kind of a grinding sound? The ABS control box has been known to make a buzzing...

    well time for new tires

General's are damn good tires. They last a long time compared to others, but that's because they are a hard compound. Excellent for warmer climates, or if you do a lot of burnouts. I've had General's last longer than any other U.S. brands. If your going with grabbers, I won't tell your wife...

Drivers mirror doesn't fold as far in as passenger mirror

Mine only turn in above 92 mph. When I stop I have to push the drivers side back out, I have my girlfriend or my wife, depending who is with me, turn the passenger mirror back out. That's if I can get the passenger side window to roll down.

    Stupid plastic clips!

I always try to take the t.v.'s from motel rooms. No wonder I've been unsuccessful :) Mine is broke also, that is a great idea.

    Front differential

That's a tough question, front driveshaft and T/C will leak out. Actuator assy, same issue, axle shafts maybe. How do you plan to "disable" it? Better to fix it, but I know that costs a lot of money and time.

Vortec 454/4L80e HD swapped 1999 Tahoe OBS

Yea, your post cats are not an issue. But I don't know if I would bother switching pre cat o2's either, s1b2 seems to be working because it is changing values when you flip the a/c. Are the converters gutted/gone? That shouldn't matter either. It has to be like your first instinct...somehow...

Vortec 454/4L80e HD swapped 1999 Tahoe OBS

O.K. why would an o2 sensor have anything to do with the A/C switch being on or off. That makes no sense, fuel trims should fluxuate normally at idle or rpm weather or not the a/c is on or off, the only difference being the drag and the pcm adding more fuel to bring up the idle speed. The only...

Vortec 454/4L80e HD swapped 1999 Tahoe OBS

Is it throwing a P0174 code? I'm assuming it is. And if your scanner has freeze data, bring the rpm's up to 1500-2000 and try to hold it there and unplug the low pressure switch for a minute and then plug it back in, does the stft still run lean? Could even be bank 2 o2 sensor. You can...

Vortec 454/4L80e HD swapped 1999 Tahoe OBS

It COULD be that the drag from the compressor is just lowering the rpm for a second an creating a load, making the stft numbers more obvious. Your not showing the rpm's when the trims change so it's hard to tell. I know you have used carb cleaner, but you might want to try propane. Rig up a...

OOppss! Wrong Venue and wrong forum to vent, sorry if I offended. I love GM trucks! :)

How Google will cash in on your commute - WHat data is being reported

I hope that regulation never catches up with technology. We have ways of getting around technology, but there is no way around Regulation. Regulation is enforced by men with Guns. Technology is not enforced. We can disable many things as us Americans are very ingenious people. But when...

How Google will cash in on your commute - WHat data is being reported

Darn, does this truck make my butt look big? Is the DMV going to raise my registration fee if I gain a few pounds? I warmed up my car too long and got a summons in the mail! How did they know I was eating a Big Mac while driving? I don't have the money for the "burger fine", can I make...

    Uncontrollable wipers 99 denali

Yup, that dog-gone wiper pulse board, I've replaced 3 of them things in the last decade. AFTER I had jerry-rigged two vehicles by splicing wires under the hood. I didn't even know that Dorman sold the pulse boards until one day I was window shopping at an Auto-zone, and I said "What the heck...

Front Suspension Cost in Las Vegas

Tie rods, tie rod ends are a piece of cake to do. Yea, you will need the separator tools, but most auto parts stores will loan them to you. Ball joints suck and are more difficult, but not really that bad if you are mechanically inclined and can follow directions. Even buying the tools are...

    Door sag

When I rolled mine while 4-wheelin, it worked perfect while upside-down. We flipped it over and the doors were sagging again. GM's door hinges, like their 4L60's are a weak link.

    Disconnected wires and vaccum lines

Are you throwing any codes? Vacuum lines must be hooked up properly or plugged. See if the wires are hot or not with a volt meter. Not enough information to help. Are certain things not working, that should be working? Unplugged vacuum lines can make your engine run lean...not good at all...

Drivers door will lock with ‘keyless entry’ or switch but won’t unlock

You gotta start tracing wires, that's a tough one. You have replaced all the usual suspects, so it's got to be a wiring issue...ground, short, open. The wires that run from the body and through the rubber into the door must bend every time you open and close the door. Sometimes the wire can...

    #18 fuse

That ain't cool...we got rears too man! Maybe not as many as you guys, but our rear is on the shaft, or a shaft in the rear. Whatever, but our rears can sense the speed too, and sometimes it hurts just as much as yours!

    Rear wheel brake cylinder.

You need two people to do it right. But using a pole to push the brake pedal is pretty Hillbilly smart. You need to spray WD-40 on the rear "shoes" parts, not on the "shoes" themselves, but on all the springs and metal-to-metal parts. The fronts are called "Brake Pads", while the rear are...

My 1995 Yukon has been loaded for transport

That is AWESOME! If you are unsure of the history, change all the fluids, front to rear, including trans pan drop and filter, and transfercase fluid, and both diffs. The two doors with barn doors are rare now, doesn't matter what you paid for it, it has the old OBD system, easy to work on with...

    94 Tahoe blower motor

Mine was squeeling for years. I drilled a tiny hole through the plastic housing on the passenger side, and sprayed WD-40 where I believe the top of the electric motor is. The squeeling quit and ran quiet. I just give it a little shot every winter, and put a piece of black tape over the hole...

How much do OEM rims go for?

I got two sets back to back (a week apart). Found them on Craigslist last December (2018), just before Christmas, I don't know if that had anything to do with it, and I didn't ask both sellers how long they had them listed. Both sets were almost brand new take-offs. Less than 2k on each set...
