2000 Tahoe LT Transmission Issue Looking For Help

2wd or 4wd? Should be a 3 piece case, bellhousing, main body, tailshaft housing, older models were two piece with the bellhousing/main body one piece. If I remember right the older 2 piece came in both long and short tailshaft configurations. I'd suggest getting a transmission from something...

1995 Tahoe does not engage any forward gears

If it locks in park your transfer case and rear end are good. I'd say the tranny is gone time for a new one.

Front Axleshafts Don't Disengage in 2WD

Unlikely in your case but I had one that the fluid was so low for so long in the front diff that it bound up and stuck. Filled it and then while driving kept shifting between 2-4wd and finally got it to start shifting again. This was an older model that used the heated plug to engage, previous...

Pump Sound Inside - From the back - Fuel Pump?

If it is the fuel pump I've had ones that were loud as hell and lasted for years, I my experience just never fill up over half, they always seem to go out when the tank is full :)

    1997 GMC K2500 Suburban - A/C button - no light

I've had bad heads do the same thing, question, does the AC work and there is no light, or no AC or light? If say you have low pressure in the system the light won't light either, nor will the AC run.

    99 5.7L Tahoe - No rear wheel drive in 2wd or 4wd

Jack up the rearend on one side and turn the lifted wheel, if it turns and the driveshaft turns the transfer case is bad, if it turns and the driveshaft doesn't turn the rearend it bad.

    02 Transmission question

Every time I've had one fail it's be the 3-4 clutch pack go out, first indications is a lot of particles coming off of the dipstick, clutch lining, then usually slipping 3-4 shift, then finally no 3rd 4th gear. I've always made it home, last time was a long 60 miles from town to home at 30 mph...

New Guy With Oil Pressure From Bad To Worse!

On oil pressure 10 psi per 1000 rpm is considered sufficient in most circles, 20 at idle you should be fine.

New Guy With Oil Pressure From Bad To Worse!

You have to seat the tube hard by hand, first time I did it I put it in place and thought bolting it up would pull it into place. Start up no pressure. Pulled the pan and seated the tube by hand, it sort of snapped in then all was good to go. If I were you I would look into replacing the missing...

    Raptor Liner??

I had a 96 Burb that I had done in white. Nice because the Mesquite can't scratch it and there's lots of that on the 4 miles of bad road I have to drive to get home. We have tons of dust out here and mostly dirt roads except for the highway, so most of the time truck are sort of a dusty tan...

    Replacing my control arms

A body lift will not change any suspension angles so it will not be the cause of any problems.

    A/C rebuild

Except you need to probably remove the whole damn dash to get to it. Look into it before you just decide to replace it. I did one a while back on a 92 and it was a day job.

    A/C rebuild

You need to get the evaporator either flushed or replaced before you put on all the new parts, it is likely that the old compressor filled the system with crap when it went, if you don't the crap will just tear up/contaminate your new stuff. As far as brands I've gone with whatever is least...

    32 or 36mm fan clutch wrench? 2000 5.3

Thanks, I had a 32mm left over from a previous BMW ownership, and I sort of remembered it not fitting on my other GM vehicles, l have a tool to hold the pump while cranking on the fan so I should be good there. I've done this a bunch of times in my lifetime, just not on a 5.3. I have 5 other...

    32 or 36mm fan clutch wrench? 2000 5.3

Looking like I might have a water pump going bad and need to have everything I need handy to do the job as the nearest parts place is 60 miles away. The only definitive answer that I can not find is what size is the fan clutch wrench? TIA

    Improve Transmission Longevity

Did all three to mine at 250K miles, I had no past history on the truck at all, the fluid was dark but not burnt. Thousands of miles of heavy towing later I'm glad that I did it and I'm still going strong.

    Improve Transmission Longevity

IMO filter change, flush, and an additional cooler would be the big 3 and the easiest to do.

Attempting to fix reverse lights (still not fixed), lost L&R brake lights as well (fixed)

Typically in the automotive world they switch the ground, don't know why but that is why you are seeing the 12 Volts across the plug, the neutral safety switch on the transmission is where I would look for your back up light problem. For the brake lights I would go back over what you have done...

    Keep breaking oil pans

My guess is the trans isn't tight to the block, remove the pan, tighten the trans bolts, then install the pan. If the pan was too far to the rear on the first install then the trans could be cocked slightly and hung on the alignment pins, so instead of just being touching the bellhousing is...
