I had a similar problem on a 2001 5.3l suburban. Replaced the -O" ring on the dip tube that sucks oil out of the pan to feed the oil pump. A defective "O" ring was allowing the oil pump to suck air along with oil. Symptoms were low oil pressure at low rpm and flickering oil pressure on the dash...
Had that problem with my 2011. WalMart tested it and said it was ok. It would discharge in 2-3 days. Replaced the battery and problem went away.
There are some inexpensive clamp on DC ampmmeters on Amazon. That was my next step to see if I could find the load if battery replacement didn't work.
We tow a 26 ft Jayco. 6500 gross, 4500 dry with a 2011 Denali xl with 180k miles. Have taken some trips of a couple thousand miles including the Rockies. It tows decently well. We like to cruise at 55 mph when we have a headwind. 65 with a tailwind. We get 8 to 9 mpg towing. Have had one tranny...
I have owned Suburbans and Yukons since 1984. Bought most used - a 2001 new. I have always had to overhaul trannys at 100,000 to 150,000 miles. My last overhaul of a 2011 Denali cost $2600.
All ogod advice. We have a 2011 Denali xl with 205,000 miles. Engine runs a little hot when towing, but hasn't been a problem. Trannys seem to be the weak point. Had to overhaul at 140k. My experience with Suburbans is to plan on a tranny overhaul every 100 to 150k. Going price for a...
We bought an 11 Denali XL 3 years ago. Drives great. Very expensive to maintain. 6 speed tranny performs well but costs $2500 to overhaul, which you should plan on every 100,00 to 150,000 miles, especially if towing. We still have overheating problems which no one seems to have a clue about.
There is a command from a diagnostic tool that should briefly energize the air pump - a good test. Mine failed. Ordered a new pump - amazon or Rock Auto - I forget - about $140. Installed it myself. Now I hear the pump - a lot - must have an air leak. Ride didn't improve any.
Our door sticker says 32 PSI also. The TPMS reads about 2 PSI low - when it says 30, it is really 32 PSI. The low pressure alarm activates when the TPMS sees less than 26 PSI. We run Michelin tires - same size as recommended on the sticker, and try to keep 32 PSI. They look like radials -...
WE have a 2011 Denali XL. It has an air system that assists the mechanical suspension. We had to replace the compressor. It rode rough. Didn't scrape anything, but felt like it "bottomed out". And we didn't hear the telltale sound of the air compressor when we started it up. There is a...
I have run E85 occasionally in my 2011 6.2l Denali. I get about 20% lower fuel mileage, so unless the price of E85 is 20% or more less than regular, I don't buy it. I have wondered if the alcohol based E85 would do anything to cleanup the injectors (which will gum up after awhile on regular...
I bought a 2011 Denali used. I was told the same thing - to go by the dash computer and change the oil when it said to. That turns out to be about 10,000 miles. I was also advised to use a good synthetic such as Mobil 1. Owners manual says to use 5-30w oils with the "dexos" label.
I tow a 5000 lb travel trailer with a 2011 Denali. It does decently well as slower city speeds. On the interstate, we try to cruise around 60-65 mph. Fuel economy drops to 8-9 mpg. Going uphill or against a headwind, it struggles, having to down shift to 5 or 4 (sometimes 3rd) speed to keep...
We've driven Suburbans for 30 years. Planned on a Tranny overhaul every 100k to 150k miles. Last one is our 2011 Denali AWD. Cost us $2600 - not at a dealer. Guess I ought to wake up and see if Ford's do any better.
If you haven't had to do a tranny overhaul on the Yukon, you are lucky. 100,000 to 150,000 miles on trannys has been my experience (and I tow trailers, so that probably shortens the life expectancy). Going price for a 6 speed overhaul is about $2600. So your nickels could turn to real...
I have posted on this forum about a slightly similar problem. When towing our 4500 lb travel trailer in hot weather, the dash engine temp indicator show temp increases up to 30 degrees above normal. No performance change or stall though. Tranny temps up to about 235. Have changed radiator -...
On my 2001 5.3l Suburban, the "O" ring on the dip tube from the oil pump to the bottom of the oil pan wore out. First symptom was low oil pressure at idle, and the pressure gauge jumping around - very irregular pressure - due to sucking in air at the "O" ring along with of oil from the oil pan...
In my 2001 suburban with the 5.3 l had that problem -steadily worse, and then oil pressure started failing. There is an "O" ring where the tube from the oil pan connects to the oil pump. that was worn out and causing the oil pump to suck air along with a little oil. 50 cent part - a few hours...
Every time I have purchased a brand other than Michelin, I have been disappointed. Get over 100k per set of Michelin tires except when there are road hazard issues - nails and screws on the edge where they cannot be repaired. I watch for the Michelin promo - usually $70 off on a set.
