Waze works on your Android phone and Android Auto.
Just plug it into one of the USB ports. It should have Android Auto on the screen with in a few seconds.
I use Waze everyday. I am assuming you have the larger 8" screen. If you don't have the larger screen it may not work.
You might prefer the longer wheel base of a Suburban or Yukon XL.
Also the 5.3L with the Max Towing package is a really good at towing.
I know its not the same as the 6.2L, but it feels really strong.
Unless your get the Max Trailering package on the Tahoe or Suburban i will agree the truck isn't great to tow with.
With the Max Trailering package the gear ratio is changed (3.42 axle ratio), second you get a trailer brake controller (for me this is a must when towing) and 4WD models include...
I'm going to say go with the 5.3 but make sure it has the max towing package on it.
The gearing on the towing package is different and makes the 5.3 feel like a completely different engine.
If you are only towing light trailers or a few times a year the 5.3 with the max towing package works...
Spray some sort of cleaner on the plastic in the engine compartment. They do not like the smell of it.
I keep mine clean and Armor All'ed and I have't had a problem.
My car before I never cleaned the engine compartment and within parking outside a squirrel chewed through my fuel line just enough...

I have an iPhone 7 plus and I have a magnetic mount on the left side of the screen behind the gear shift lever.
I haven't had any issues with signal drop on the phone since I've moved my phone there.
