Good write up. Thanks for sharing. I was referencing your stock components for brake upgade on my 05 tahoe. The 13" rotors and a 4 piston calipers would stop better than my current 12" with 2 piston. But been researching the 16" 6 piston as well.
As far as your sensor and hose bracket issues...
Thats awesome! If you dont mind, where did you source the calipers and cost?
As far as your 21 Denali, what was the the caliper on it? 2 piston, 4 piston, and did it use a caliper mounting bracket like previous generations or is the bracket deleted like the ppv caliper? Thanks!
The coating on the rotor will wear off. Do a good burn-in/seat the pads, let them cool, then do it again couple hours later. The 1st time you do it, you will still see the coating, and it will start to wear off. The 2nd time should be good. The police pads put off some dust, so just stay on top...
I researched the Ranchhand site and found the brackets they use. They also had wiring extensions to help relocate the sensors from the bumber to the pushbumper. I have not purchased any. Price seem to be reasonable if I recall. I am not sure if they will be a bolt on to any other manufacturers...
Thats about right. We just had the officers deal with the noise till the first brake job. Then it got addressed with the new pads. Depending on the operator. We averaged just about 20k on fronts and 22k on the rears.
My kids keep asking my wife and about putting pushbumper on our 2500 sub. We say yes it be nice, then we so no because we would absolutely start ramming the idots that can't drive. Haha
That came out real good! I see it relocates the two inboard sensors to the pushbar. That gives me an idea on our police Setina bars. Was there enough harness slack to relocate the sensors or did you have to make extentions?
I have ranch hands on some f450 and 550's , they are both older and fleet trucks, so no sensors. Never seen one on a tahoe. They are nice and cover the headlights like you want.
I lnow this is an old thread. Just thought I would add some info. Not sure if it will help.
On our 2021+ ppv tahoes we replace the factory pads with Raybestos Police # SP2407PP for fronts and # SP2174APPH for rears. Available at O'Reillys. I dont recall cost of pads but I dont recall them...
We ran into this problem at the shop today and wanted to pass along our findings.
2021 ppv tahoe 5.3, 40k miles, starts and runs fine, no hesitation upon start up. Came in for preventative maintenance and instument cluster is dead. No lights, needles, no driver information center. No...
I am not sure about the door locks. That may be accessible through the dash and or radio controls. If the rear door panels have been eliminated and new smooth covers installed to work with a cage, it is possible the rear lock sensors were removed.
As far as the headlights, That all depends...
Hey everyone, I'm a Fleet Tech for a local municipality. The brake squeal in the gm ppv is not a new problem. We have delt with it in every gm police car since 04. The factory gm pads are just noisy and wear out fast. We deal with the sqeal until the 1st brake job and swap out to another...
