GMT 900 Manual Front Seat Recline Mechanism - Broken Handle and Mating Star Gear ?

Jeezus get a whole new seat ? Does anyone have a scrap laying around that could send me the gear or section so I can make it out of metal ? If its just a plastic star gear in there its gotta be failing. Surprised no 1 is seeing it...

GMT 900 Manual Front Seat Recline Mechanism - Broken Handle and Mating Star Gear ?

Wouldnt be a hundred but prob 70 .. also, the billet handle could be machined in any shape, with chevy logo or something to make it look cool / less like a handle off a Yugo. Anyone else ? surely someone has dealt with this before if it really is a plastic gear under that handle.

GMT 900 Manual Front Seat Recline Mechanism - Broken Handle and Mating Star Gear ?

I have a friend with a 2012 Tahoe with manual recline front seats, last 8 VIN CR163343 The manual recline lever on the front driver seat broke and he went to replace it. But...the gear it connects to within the seat frame is also broken, so when he went to replace the flimsy plastic manual...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

No I wont argue spring vs screw clamps, i see your points and you can use whatever you like. Theres plenty on my side but spring clamps are good as well, and as you said with the correct tool (which Ive never bothered to get) its probably much easier to install. But wow, you would keep on...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

@Rocketman - put the discussoin on hold a minute since you and i will disagree, and actually post a link to a spring clamp less than 3/8" in width that you could fit in this spot. Since you know everything, you know that any wider and it would not fit the billet tee and would be impossible to...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

Its debatable, you can google the topic and find as many for as against re-using spring clamps. Ive re-used spring clamps as well, mostly with success, but sometimes they do relax slightly and leak slightly. Not same steel or thickness as a leaf or coil spring, lol so that comparison is silly...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

OK more research on hose clamps for ya lol ... its been a real slow week. Spring Clamps : A. Wear out (loose tension) and CAN ONLY BE USED 1 TIME. After which, they must be replaced as spring clamps wont hold tension and can leak if reused. Therefore they must be replaced (thats more $ in...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

Ok I guess I need to check out the tool then. Last time i held 1, it worked awesome provided you had lots of clearance around it to actually use it as intended. However in this spot, buried into the firewall where you can barely see it, I think you would have a hell of a time using a spring...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

im sure you could grab a few spring clamps for a few bucks if it really bothered you that much ... ive neved had an issue with them and hate spring clamps because you tend to lacerate your brachial artery trying to install or remove those stupid things, especially in such a tight spot as these...

    Gruven heater core T-connectors

Ive had pretty much the same experiences with molded Y hoses, depending on the manufacturer. The weight of the floppy Y hose, bouncing around in the engine bay actually stresses the Y junction and most of the time they fail at that Y junction. So one molded Y hose is actually MORE likely to...

Awesome thread, thanks for getting this done! Sick of the plastic cooling system parts. I installed mine with no issues. I see where a barb could be nice on that other end but i clamped it down and was fine. What hose clamps are you talking about with the spring on them ? Ive only ever...

    Power fold mirrors not working

Lol no they dont do anything. Actually if you put your ear to the drivers side one, you can hear a motor in there trying to move but its helpless. I see the complete drive units are now on sale for 169.99 already with the brass gear and new motor installed so Im going that route, will let you...

    Folding mirror problem Tahoe

mine would flop about since the gear was broken. i could also move it around by hand (pain in the ass) but once it was out it would wobble so bad i couldnt see out of it. i think the spring holds it all tight, and when the stupid plastic gear breaks it wont compress the main spring and thus...
