I'm of the same opinion BUT I started working on things when I was about 9. Today's much more complex machinery would be hard to pick up without a long background and a lifetime of curated tools.
I'm fairly sure there were 3 different o-rings to choose from when I went through my junkyard 6.2 before I installed it. The existing was in tatters but I bought the same color.
Funny, I have a 2009 4wd tahoe and somehow dodged that whole nightmare TWICE having replaced a broken mount on my 5.3 then swapped the engine to a 6.2.
It's much simpler with the wheel off and the fender liner removed.
I don't know. I just ordered a rear view camera mirror that mounts like OEM on the windshield. It's an inch smaller than stock but gives me dash cam functionality as well as better rear view. The descriptions I found are a little sparse so this is going to be a trial. I think it changes the zoom...
Having driven a number of vehicles with backup cameras I wouldn't bother with the stock camera. There are so many aftermarket mirrors with much better resolution and more features including zoom.
The O-ring in question is on the oil pump pickup tube. When it leaks it lets air into the oil pump which makes your oil pressure unstable at best. If the o-ring fails completely I think (someone check me on this) it can go into the oil pump with its close tolerances. At the very least I think...
I used to use an unlit propane torch tip around connections that could leak air. Make sure to take a good look at vacuum hoses for cracks or disconnected hoses.
Propane will cause a momentary jump in rpms even with a warm engine.
I was just looking back through this thread and didn't see the picture of the jumped wires. The wires are in the tailgate at the rear wiper.
The red wire is my jumper.
I used a bullet plate that provided a passage between the hole for the lines. I figure it mimics having a cooler. Mine had a silicone gasket attached to the plate. I don't think mine is leaking but I should probably take a fresh look at it.
I live on a lake with a steep grassy back yard. I use 4 low going up and down with a utility trailer when I wat to haul dirt or rock down and for dock maintenance. 4 high would work but tends to want to spin the tires when the tc hits. It also inspires more confidence dodging trees on the hill...
You'll have to contact Crutchfield for a lot of details. I bought it from them and installed it myself. I had to use my multi-tool to chop some plastic out deep in the radio compartment. Once that was done things fit well. I posted somewhere on this forum - under the GMT900 section - but don't...
I have an '09 LTZ that came with the Bose system. I was never impressed until I upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer AVIC 8400 something. I did that to gain direct bluetooth streaming but have fallen in love with Android Auto.
The new head unit with the Bose amp and stock old speakers sounds...
I dreamed of mounting some hard points to the tops of the A pillars to be able to connect a full length roof rack to. I and my tailgate have learned a hard lesson about the height of my garage door vs an open tailgate. Any rack needs to be no higher than the stock but able to be raised and...
I looked at my right front and everything looked fine. Hmm. Felt weird again when I pulled out. Next stop was the same thing pulling in. Hmm. I was able to pull through the parking spot leaving and it felt less weird.
Back on a highway it was fine but it occurred to me that I had used 4WD last...
You won't have exactly the situation I had but my '09 Tahoe has 3 cats. Two by the manifolds and one after the Y. Both of the upper cats had melted and collapsed down into the 3rd blocking it. With nowhere to go the exhaust pressurized the block pushing the oil into the intake.
My point being...
I see references throughout this thread about phone numbers and email addresses for Rockauto. I can't find either. I recently ordered a water pump, serpentine belt and A/C belt. The A/C belt is supposed to be a stretch belt. It was definitely not a stretch belt and broke when I tried to use it...
