    AC line fitting stripped

Thanks. I searched online before I made the thread and couldn't find anyone who sold AC lines. Then I looked again and realized I needed to look under "hoses". Going to get a new line from Autozone tomorrow.

    AC line fitting stripped

Trying to repair the rear AC in my 2001 Tahoe, and thought I might as well replace the orifice tube in the front while I had the system empty. Big mistake. As I was loosening the fitting, it became hard to turn as I was getting to the last couple of threads. I worked it back and forth...

A skimming/reading comprehension failure on my part. Completely missed the "other than" in your post. Funny thing is, I'm reading through the thread again ~6 weeks later as if I'm reading it for the first time. I read your post just fine this time and saw that someone asked "are you sure it...

    Rear differential rebuild difficulty

I've thought about doing this, as I'm concerned that the junker could fail on me, just as Countryboy19 mentioned. Just need to make some room in the garage for it.

    Rear differential rebuild difficulty

Looks like that's the route I'm going. Shop said the axle splines are chewed up and the inside of the housing is jacked up. Based on the BANG that I felt and heard, which made me think I ran over a large brick, I don't doubt their assessment. Junkyard nearby has a rear for $300.

    Rear differential rebuild difficulty

Rear differential blew out on my 2001 Tahoe LT 4WD a couple days ago. Had it towed* to a nearby garage, and they're looking at it now to see if it's rebuildable or if the axle shafts need to be replaced also. I'm trying to decide how much I'm willing to spend to have it fixed, and while I'm...

    Gas Mileage

I'm no tire guru, so I don't know about the ratings. But I do know that LT tires are heavier than passenger rated tires, so if the Michelins are P rated it should help your mpg.

    New wheels and tires finally

Yeah the canister doesn't look difficult, but it's like $100 from Rockauto and while that's not much, I put off things like that to save up for things I really needed, like tires. I swapped the blend door actuator with the mode door actuator, and the problem stays at the blend door, so both...

    Gas Mileage

What size are those KO2's? I just went from stock 245/75-16's to 285/70-17's, and was getting around 15.8 mpg with the old tires. I've only gone through one full tank of gas since putting the new tires on, and calculated the mileage right around 13 mpg on that one tank. I expected to maybe...

    New wheels and tires finally

Very true. I just haven't bothered with those minor things for a variety of reasons. The radio works fine, I just want bluetooth. Looking at getting a $69 JVC head unit for that. For the evap canister, I actually meant the vapor canister. It threw a code a few months after I bought it...

    New wheels and tires finally

Thanks all. I just stuck the Chevy emblems on with tape for the pic. I’ll probably go ahead and put them on for good....when I feel like doing it. More importantly, when it comes to aesthetics anyway, I really need to paint my rusty ass calipers. I was ready to just give up on the Tahoe and...

Are you sure it has navigation? The Amazon description doesn’t list it as a feature on that unit.

    New wheels and tires finally

Nearly a year ago I put on Bilstein 5100's, Z71 springs with 2" lift blocks, and aftermarket torsion keys, in addition to replacing the upper control arms and lower ball joints. I also bought a set of steelies from a GMC, but couldn't justify spending the $$$ on new tires until I absolutely...

    Rear AC not working

The rear AC in my 2001 Tahoe with manual controls suddenly started blowing hot air a couple of weeks ago. I tried the AC reset procedure, no dice. Then I cracked open the cargo area passenger side panel to investigate, figuring it was either a bad blend door actuator or that the blend door...

    Calipers keep seizing

Thanks David. I still need to do replace the rear brakes, so I'll definitely bleed all four when I do that. I wish that was my land. I see in your sig that you were at Andrews, so you may be familiar with the area that the pic was taken from. It's out in Loudoun County VA near Leesburg where...

    Calipers keep seizing

I should add that 80 of those 300 miles were spent towing my son's Mustang after he broke down far from home. I had no problem stopping. Of course, with that load the truck had a hard time getting up to highway speed from a dead stop and going up hills. But it still moved better than when the...

    Calipers keep seizing

No, I only bled the front, but I have since resolved this. It turns out that only the passenger side caliper was seizing. I replaced hoses on both sides, and after bleeding both calipers several times (had to troubleshoot a leaky brake line to hose connection on the driver's side), the...

    Torsion key question?

IIRC, 4 turns gives you 1/4" of lift. It looks like you have about 4 threads showing, so you only have enough to get 1/4" more lift.

    Calipers keep seizing

2001 Tahoe LT with 230,000 miles Back in October my right front caliper seized. Luckily I was within a mile of home so I got it back to my driveway. Replaced the caliper with a new one from Autozone, and was back on the road. I had to get it fixed quick, otherwise I would have gotten Power...

    Rubber coil spring insulator

Yeah, I discovered that there were some already in place on/under the stock shocks, and in rather good shape for having 220,000 miles on them assuming the previous owners never replaced them. I ended up replacing the top one, just because I had two new ones. I tried to get one to fit in...

    Rubber coil spring insulator

So I'm doing the nivomat replacement with Bilstein 5100's, Moog Z71 coil springs, and WheelsNParts torsion key/2" coil spring spacer kit this weekend. I also bought two Moog coil spring insulators before I decided I was going to do the spacers. Have any of you used these with your coil spring...

$150 to spend, what to buy first

I was hoping to get a double din in-dash GPS head unit along with the Metra replacement dash, which will put me a bit over budget if I do that now. But it's still tempting, so I'm not dismissing your suggestion just yet. Thanks for the quick reply.

$150 to spend, what to buy first

I recently picked up a 2001 Tahoe LT with the factory non-Base sound system with a factory sub. I'm no audiophile, but this system sounds like ass....no bass at all. I thought the driver's door speakers weren't working, but it turns out I just can't hear them while I'm driving. If I crank it...
