Whats the Best 6" Lift, Money is No Object

I think he's got a Cepek kit on his Tahoe, but is going with RCX on his 'Burban. From my understanding, the Cepek kit is a true 6.5" suspension lift, where a lot of other kits are 4"-6" (6" with cranked T-bars). If you're going to keep IFS, optimizing CV angles will help keep things in check...

Sucks about your RCX lift. And YES, one of these days I'll actually get around to starting my modifications, lol. But first I have to address my repairs, which I'm getting through slowly but surely.

Welcome back! Lookin' forward to one again reading and seeing pics of that awesome 2 door of yours.

    Looking for Mods.

You could run some 285's under there without a lift, but they may rub a little. A really small T-Bar crank might help. Just for reference, there are people who run 35's with no lift kit and heavily cranked t-bars. But going that route adds stress to your front-end with the added t-bar tension...

    New Bumper

Damn! You already know this, but your truck is awesome. The "Wincher" bumper looks really good on there. Makes your truck look like you could take down small buildings and plow through other vehicles with not so much as a scratch, haha. I've peeked around the KMA website a bit and they make some...

    Looking for Mods.

Guess your bull-bar lived up to its name, huh? If you're looking for modifications to enhance the appearance of your truck, that are budget friendly, you could consider de-molding, removing the chrome fender trim, color-matching your grill or bumpers (these are budget friendly if you do it...

    Barn door conversion

No problems with reaching over the tailgate either, but I'm 6' 2". I love my tailgate/hatch setup. I also think it looks nicer and cleaner. If I have groceries or other cargo loaded in the back, I don't drop the tailgate. I simply raise the lift-glass and reach over that way. I drop the tailgate...

    2wd to 4wd

Yeah, that kind of conversion would require tons of work. Like 07Burb said, you can make anything work with enough time, problem solving, modification, fabrication, and of course $$$. Just my opinion, but I don't think it's worth all that to convert your 2wd to a stock 4wd IFS setup. If you...

Parking up an incline while doing that seemed to help for me last week.

    Check Gauges light/oil pressure drop

Sure thing. If you got your oil changed 3 weeks ago, that's awfully quick to lose enough oil for your gauge to start dancing around like that. With age these trucks can burn oil, but that's a bit too quickly. Wouldn't hurt to make sure the place that changed your oil properly fitted your oil...

    Check Gauges light/oil pressure drop

Check your oil. This also happens when you're way low on oil. You might be down a quart or even 2. This has happened to me before and I checked my oil and was a little low. The way you describe the situation, that's probably all it is. Good luck.

    High Oil Level on Dipstick

UM NO I'm not saying that at all. Maybe I should have been clear : start it up, let it flow, SHUT IT OFF, then check the dipstick. I know how to check oil levels, thank you. I should have just worded that better.

    High Oil Level on Dipstick

If you didn't start the truck, the reading may be inaccurate. But if it really is overfilled, I'm with everyone else, just change the oil. You could try a nice synthetic if you haven't already done so. Might as well do oil filter while you're down there. Once the oil is changed, fire it up and...

    trans took a crap!!

I hear you on the funds man, I'm often in that boat due to bills and shit. I can't say for sure, but it sounds like your current transmission may not be worth rebuilding. Again I'm not certain. A decent shop will figure out for free if its rebuildable or not. For your situation, I'd figure...

    trans took a crap!!

If you have the skills/tools to rebuild a transmission, or know of a fair-priced/honest/reputable shop, then there's nothing wrong with rebuilding a transmission if you have a good rebuildable core to work with, have it done the right way, and you address all the weak spots.

    trans took a crap!!

A used transmission is probably the most cost effective, but then you're left guessing how long that will last and if the mileage advertised is accurate. Unless you're willing to inspect it or have it inspected. I think in the long run, it would be more worth it to just rebuild with beefed up...

    1-3" lift

I would assume he has an OBS. They often group 99's in with the 2000-2006 kits because the 1999 body style changed for the pick-up trucks. The 2000 model year was when the NBS Tahoes and Yukons were released and the following year the Denali's and Escalades were updated as well. However, the old...

    emissions FAIL

Yeah. California is strict with that crap, and a smog pro can lose his license for passing car with a CEL/SES light that doesn't work regardless of how well every other test went, even if you're not throwing a code. In August, went to smog my RX-7, and failed because the bulb did not light up...

    1-3" lift

Ah yes, bowtiefreak, forgot about the factor of money, haha. Can't forget an important detail like that :emotions122:. Sparg93 : A suspension lift will cost you the most money, but you could achieve more lift and better performance. Are you aiming to run 35's or 37's? Then take into...

    1-3" lift

Fully cranking your T-bars will add stress for sure, which in turn will contribute to premature wear. Your truck already has keys, as these provide an index for how much you can crank your Torsion bars. People swap keys so they can crank further than the stock keys would allow. You could...

    Standard Upgrades to the 5.7

Constant, that's some good info to start out with. There's a lot of people who have the desire to upgrade the shit out of their vehicles but are learning as they go. Or don't know where to start at all. I agree with puckhead, its a good start for the beginner tuner. I also agree with retorq, it...

    Argh...

I think a good way to test beforehand, is to tap the blower motor housing, beneath the glovebox. I listened closely and could get the fan going for about 5 seconds, and it sounded like it was spinning off-kilter, like the bearings were shot. The switch seems to do its job, so I think I just need...

    Fuel pump question

Definitely not carbureted, unless he had a modified setup to begin with. Anyways, I think he meant that he's going to upgrade his existing fuel injection system. But yeah, I agree, it would probably be better to just do the whole assembly. Its such a pain in the ass, you might as well do it...
