That's good to know, thanks for the suggestion.

    2018 Tahoe-EXPERIENCE changing axle ratio?

I do have the engine oil and trans coolers, I saw those on the build sheet. Fan and radiator, not sure - do we know the RPO codes for those options? My dealer just got back to me saying the speedometer would change and they have no way of recalibrating to the new ratio.

    No one's made this change?

    2018 Tahoe-EXPERIENCE changing axle ratio?

My research is turning up a lot opinions on 3.08 vs 3.42, and that has been helpful, but I can’t seem to find a lot of folks who have actually had the change done. I have the 3.08 and per the manual my towing capacity goes from 6400 to 8400 if I had the 3.42. I have the 5.3 engine and...

My 2018 tahoe front strut numbers - what gives...

Just above the 84082019, they show OE23837. I didn’t get any hits on that either. Kind of reassuring that my 84082019 didn’t show up in the list you provided? Maybe reassuring isn’t the right word. I feel validated that something seems to be off here.

My 2018 tahoe front strut numbers - what gives...

First post in the 2015+ forum - been in the 1991-1999 group for a while. Happy to have made the upgrade to the 20th century. Purchased 2018 4WD Tahoe LT two months ago, 38K miles, was a fleet car. Front is bouncy. I'm looking for OEM part numbers on the struts and no amount of searching will...

Update. Not a transmission issue. Rather, I'm getting misfires on cylinder 7 under load. I can see them being registered on my Tech 2 while experiencing the issue - normally the value shows "0" for each cylinder, but then as the misifre happens it shows the count and then when they stop it...

When do we worry about brake fluid leaks - now or soon?

That's right, there's that unit back there in the cargo area! Ok, that has to be it...so no major operational issue that will prevent me from staying alive on the highways of Chicago, just a comfort thing. Thank you all!

When do we worry about brake fluid leaks - now or soon?

Hmm! On all of the above. I shall investigate. Thank you!

When do we worry about brake fluid leaks - now or soon?

A few drops of bright green fluid on the garage floor, passenger side, under the step rail. Took a peek and appears to be brake fluid. A little bit collected around a joint in the line. Not gushing, but obviously there's a leak. Just the one part of the one line, checked all others and did...

Tech2 readings on engine data 1

Ok, so MAF cleaning did seem to result in some mild power increase but didn't resolve the main problem. And I was preparing a good response to all of the above, concerning my Tech2 readings and interpretations, etc., when I stumbled upon something in the service manual that seems to give me...

Ok, so take a look at what I stumbled upon in the 1998 C/K service manual: apparently what I'm experiencing, GM calls a "chuggle" as per their shift condition descriptions. Found this on page 7-233 (in the volume 4). It doesn't seem to go on to talk about any testing procedures specific to a...

Tech2 readings on engine data 1

Yes, I'm being careful not to pretend I know what I'm doing. There's data and there's proper interpretation of that data. Further searching on the CMP Retard suggests that the reading isn't any good until RPMs are over 1000, and that from there you rotate distributor (clockwise or counter...

Tech2 readings on engine data 1

Ok, so I invested in a tech2 scanner, and thanks to this forum I have the service manual for the 1998 (mine is a 1999 yukon with 5.7). Took a look at my Engine Data 1 and compared this to what the Specs section shows as the "typical values." I tested under the recommended conditions: i.e...

Ok - Thanks, I will make this part of my agenda at my next garage visit. Looks like it's part of the overall "Functional Test" outlined in the service manual so I'll just have the whole thing done. Meanwhile, I found a table in the service manual that outlines the typical values a scan tool...

Does anyone know for sure? I’m thinking that this (and the fuel pressure test) both involve connecting a pressure gauge to a test port, and that they can’t be tested electronically through the OBDII.

OK, general update: Tried unplugging O2 sensors, on first test drive up my hill same results as usual. My snapshot showed that the computer plugged about .5V in (presume this is the “default”). With O2 sensors still unplugged, tried unplugging MAF. Lurched forward a bit when putting into...

I love that I've got all this data now, I think it will help. No basis of comparison to other scanners of course...and on most data points I'm not sure what I should be looking for!

Ok, let's try this again. I've had a lot of problems this afternoon trying to get these pictures added to the post correctly.

Ok, got the scanner today, data time. Successfully reproduced my issue and managed to capture the HO2S data. Here are three, 5-second snapshots of me in a valley just at the bottom of a hill, heading into it on cruise control at 39MPH, and then heading up the hill (roughly 3-4 seconds in)...

Great info, thank you! I've downloaded the manuals for the 98. So, on the exhaust, I had the full stock exhaust replaced in 2017, and it was a few months later that I first noticed my current issue. When I replaced the exhaust, I got new O2 sensors. Then, in 2018 I had my catalytic...

Thank you much! Purchased. That hurt a little, but buy good tools and only cry once, I learned. Looking forward to getting it plugged in, figuring out what the heck I'm doing, and get some actual data.

Correct. I'll tag in James (@swathdiver) as he's one of the authorities on the TechIIs. I know the prices vary but I swear they were closer to $300. There are also more updated software versions that you should be sure comes with that the one you get. Awesome. Looking forward to any...
