Was getting codes for multiple mis fires (0300's), cat converter right bank (0420) and air mass sensor. Changed out distributor. No change. Cleaned Air mass sensor with correct cleaner and cleaned the throttle body and replaced throttle body gasket. Drove 50 miles or so mixed driving and...
Another indicator that you need new front hubs is that when you come to a slow stop you will feel the ABS activating slightly. This is caused by too much play in the wheel.
Yes but I'm getting a slight pop backfire when accelerating. Fuel pressure was low so replaced the fuel filter and now m getting 50 lbs fuel pressure which is still slightly low but an improvement.
This is how my gauges read at 177,000 miles and has read this for as long as I can remember. I replaced the waterpump at 100,000 but I'm not sure if I changed the thermostat but I'd be surprised if I did not. My temp gauge reads the same as yours. This is at idle after 20 minutes driving and the...
Thanks everyone for the look and suggestions. I have decided to go with the Skip White Performance distributor at $60 shipped. It's hard to beat that price. The Davis unit was substantially more expensive and I'm not sure it would be any better than the SWP unit for my stock setup. I'll respond...
A few months ago I started a thread about my distributor that I carelessly broke while replacing my cap and rotor.
https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/broke-ear-where-distributor-cap-screws-into-distributor.103623/
I wanted to start a new thread because I have decided to replace the whole...
Thanks for everything. Unfortunately everything I have is Apple. Also, Skip white had the distributor for the 4.6 and the 7.4 Vortec but nothing for the 5.7.
Thanks. I was thinking the same thing when I stumbled on the Davis unit on Summit. I spent about three hours last night reading up on this. The CMP retard thing is the only concept I'm having a problem understanding. I'm going to search YouTube today and see if there are any good tutorials. For...
I was doing the super simple job of changing my cap and rotor. I must have put too much torque on the screw on the side you can see and cracked the ear that receives the screw to hold the distributor cover to the distributor. I did not realize it was also plastic. Any ideas to fix it? I put it...
Thanks everyone for your suggestion of pulling the distributor to inspect the gear, and the appropriate app for the work. I never would have thought to do that.
I had not thought about the gear on the distributor.
I'd love to do the spider but I don't know if I'd get it back together. I'm more of a core replacement level. I do the brakes, water pump, etc ....... The cap and rotor are getting a look at Monday.
I overlooked that idea. I even had that...
Ugh. Still have the misfire and slight engine shake and loss of power when getting into it on long inclines. I'm wondering if I need to do the spider install. I watched a 36 minute youtube video and it looks relatively difficult with all of the stuff you have to get out of the way.
Replaced the ignition coil with the AC Delco D577 part from the dealership. Huge PIA due to the wiring harness bracket. It did not cure the lack of power on a grade but I have not gotten a check engine for random misfires.
Thanks guys. I have the OEM iridium plugs. The misfire is random. I'm going to pick up the OEM AC Delco coil from Criswell Chevrolet or if they won't give me a reasonable price I'll buy it off Rock Auto for $35 plus shipping.
I have a '99 Tahoe that I have replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs and fuel filter. If I'm pulling a load or just pushing it at highway speeds up a long grade I will feel that I'm not getting all of the power and will set off the check engine light for cylinder mis fires. I'm wondering if a...
