    Oil Cooler Gasket Alternative

i had a persistent leak at the oil cooler mounting location on the oil pan. I was able to determine that it was not the repeatedly replaced gasket but the hex head threaded bolt on the side. Take a look at this location.

Welcome from UT. I would look at keeping 17" rims if you want to do the 2007+ (NNBS) front brake upgrade (recommended). You can run 285/70/17 (~33") tires with little to no lift. I use my 2002 Denali overlanding in the west desert and in the Uintah mountains with no issues.

2003 Chevrolet Tahoe Low Profile Overlanding Roof Rack

B-train - my Denali handles overlanding very well in most cases. I do wish I had reduction gears in some cases (4lo), but only when I am doing more than "overlanding". I have retrofitted coil over suspension in the front which has aided in my ability to travel off road in more comfort. My...

    Soft Brakes, New Day

Just another thought, when I added hydro boost to my rig, I also changed out the flex hose to each caliper with stainless steel braided. I know that with age, the rubber ones will expand a little and take way some of the hydraulic force going to the calipers. I did not see you mention if you had...

2003 Chevrolet Tahoe Low Profile Overlanding Roof Rack

Beautiful rack you built there. It looks like it will serve its purpose just right. I mounted my smitybuilt defender (suburban one piece model on my Yukon) roof basket directly to the stock rails with some 1/4” carriage bolts slid into the channel. I also have no wind noise and it sits about a...

Replacing Radiator, Water Pump, Thermostat, Fan Clutch

I think the 1/4” might be a little large but close. I was looking around and saw people talking about 3/32”. Another thought about the ac compressor, the clutch might still rotate freely, but the compressor still can be seized. Double check the operation when the compressor cycles.

Replacing Radiator, Water Pump, Thermostat, Fan Clutch

Make sure you place a restictor in the connection between the overflow and the radiator. Most aftermarket radiators do not have this and you will notice that your engine will not get up to temp without it. There are some here that have a write-up on how they did this.

TBSS intake on gen III 4.8 5.3 6.0

I assume that you are going to run the Corvette fuel filter to merge into your return fuel system? It is a shame that GM 88894358 fuel rail is discontinued, it fits over the newer intake when using the larger Flex Fuel injectors.

My From Start to Finish 6.0L Build

I wanted to go with 706/862 heads on my rebuild, I even sourced a set from the wreaking yard. I liked where the torque curve was at, it match my driving (below 5500 RPM). Because I went with Flat Top Pistons in my 6.0 rebuild, my compression ratio was going to be 11.75:1 which is a little high...

First Suburban! Also, first time on the forum!

A two-speed transfer case is the only thing i wish i had on my 02 Denali. I have a mechanical full-time AWD, and though it is amazing for power transfer to the road and in snow, there are times I wish I had the lower gear ratio the 4LO would offer.

First Suburban! Also, first time on the forum!

Beautiful Find and welcome from Utah and have fun on the trails. I am always amazed at how well these vehicles behave on the mountain roads. They are not rock crawlers but they sure do love forest service roads.

My From Start to Finish 6.0L Build

In my rebuild, I went with a new OEM ls2 crank and OEM pistons, they don’t sell the new LQ9 piston part number anymore. I now wish I would have looked more into a stroked rotating assembly. It would not have been much more expensive and the NA power would have been better.

    01 Yukon Denali Build Thread

I would have a hard time going back to the 317 heads. Your compression would be down and your tune would need to be adjusted for it to be right, IMHO.

TBSS intake on gen III 4.8 5.3 6.0

The flex fuel injectors I found (25326903) has the EV6 connectors. These are the same connector as the GenIV injectors and I believe the GenIV flex injectors. The 99-06 truck typically use an injector with the EV1/Multec II connector, so an adapter is required. Theses pictures are of the EV6...

    Towing with a 4L60E

My understanding is that it increases the clamping force (about 40% more surface area) on the 2/4 band when 4th is commanded as per Sonnax. But as rockola stated, it is still a bad idea to tow in 4th especially if you have an already worn band. If you do install, make sur eyou check your band...

    Engine swap '04 Tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

I don't think I can add much, but I just finishing my engine / transmission rebuilt that took 10 months, I did not loose memory to my PCM when i finally installed the battery last month, my old tune was still present and not corrupted. For the Fuse question, the Factory Service Manual for...

TBSS intake on gen III 4.8 5.3 6.0

I'll chime in about the vett filter. It is used to take the return less fuel rail of the NBSS (TBSS) intakes and make a return type system. The filter has a built in pressure regulator to keep the fuel rail pressure at 58psi. Here a picture i found wen i was doing research on my swap.

    How much lift for 33's

when i first went with 285/70/17s i had to get a cheap pair of keys off of flea bay because my adjusters for my driver side keys was already maxed out. No cutting was needed for my install. I did have to use a 1 inch bumper so i could keep the jounce stops contacting the control arm, the...
