After six months of waiting the kid's new car was finally delivered. The Yukon has served us well and it's time to let it go.
I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all of the help over the years. What an amazing group. Without advice and help from this site I probably would have...
My son is taking a long road trip so he took the wife's new explorer and I am driving the Yukon. His new car should be delivered early November so I was doing one last round of fluid changes last night before she goes off to someone else. Lo and behold, the ac blower resistor died. I guess it...
The noise the pinion gear makes when it goes out sounds like a cash register. Just in case you ever hear it.
On the positive side, the Yukon now seems quite quiet.
Changing out the actuator that controls the left / right heat and cold up front. That's the one behind the dash. Also changing out the one for the rear air.
Y'all pray no small children walk by the shop because they may get scarred for life.
So was changing the oil this weekend and went to check the suspension. Three of the four boots on the ball joints had split. The bushings looked like they were done for. In the interest of fixing with the least amount of expense I decided to order new, complete upper and lower control arms. I...
Going to change out the PCV integrated valve cover this weekend. Also changing the hose. Anything else I should do besides those two things? I'm not seeing leaks anywhere else so I should be good there. Just making sure there is nothing else I should do while I do those two items.
I don't suppose anyone has a pair of the darker leather (slate, I think) headrests for an 05 they would be willing to part with? I bought some to replace the ones with TV's in them and got the lighter colored leather. They looked like the darker ones but once I cleaned them up they were a lot...
My son is driving an hour each way for work every day and is getting tired of filling up every other day. The dilemma is to keep the Yukon and let him buy a new car or let him sell it to help him buy new.
I just replaced all the shocks and springs, new brakes all around, new radiator, new...
Was following my son the other day and his brake lights stopped working. Got to the cabin and checked all the fuses and they were fine. Did some research and found that the brake switch could be bad. The brake lights are working again but I don't like the idea of something being wrong and not...
Last night we replaced the oil pan gasket on my son's 05 Yukon 4x4. That. Absolutely. Sucked.
My son just graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Told him if he ever designed something like that I would throttle him.
Welp, finally happened. Washed the boy's yukon the other day and the roof paint is peeling off. Is it worth redoing the entire truck or just do the roof? Probably only going to keep this truck until he graduates in two years.
Anyone ever had this happen? Driving along and my butt gets hot. Seat heater is on. Turn it off and a little while later it comes back on. Or it won't. No pattern. Just completely random.
Ideas?
OK, I have been reading about everything I can on this and the amount of conflicting information is staggering.
I put on the new keys and leveled it off (well, not really level as now the front is slightly higher) but now I need to do a few more things.
I want to replace the shocks with 5100's...
I recently rebuilt the transfer case as the front drive shaft was not turning. After that everything worked for a few days then my dash switch went out and I replaced it. Worked for a few days then would not switch out of 4WD Auto mode. We determined that the latest problem was in the encoder...
2005 Yukon with the NP246 transfer case. Front driveshaft is not turning. The actuator is working so it has to be in the transfer case. Before I get this taken out and worked on does anyone have any suggestions?
Am I better off just ordering the $800 replacement transfer case?
Power seat motor sounds like it is trying to work but the seat will not go lower. Can you replace / repair that or does it require the whole seat assembly?
Anyone have a link on how to repair or to someplace that would have the parts for less than the %400 the dealer wants?
2005 Yukon SLT...
OK, I have poured over this site trying to find how to change the rear aspirator. I can find plenty on the front one and plenty on actuators but nothing on changing the rear aspirator. The buzzing is driving me nuts and the temp is not right in the back.
Anyone have any tips for changing...
Having a hard time finding one I like. Just bought this truck for my son and I need to make it less station wagonney. Anyone have photos of theirs with information on where I can get one?
My guess is there are fewer available due to the age. I want one I can add Rigid lights to.
THanks.
