Haven't posted in awhile since my Yukon blew a rear brake line at the end of March/early April. Got the dorman stainless kit from summit, been picking away at replacing those and all the fuel lines over the summer, added a skyjacker lift kit, all new sway bushings, end links, rear spring...
Popped a brake line last night apparently. Had no brakes this morning when I left for work. Managed to get it to work after lunch to check the fluid and see where it's leaking...of course, driver side, in the frame, by the gas tank. Luckily summit racing had them in stock. Now to find the time...
Your best bet is to find a projector headlight (although most look like crap) and take them apart and upgrade to a proper HID kit and/or replace the projectors with quality ones from www.theretrofitsource.com or swap to the sealed beam grill and LED headlights. I did the sealed beam conversion...
Mine looks the exact same way. My plan over the summer is to knock down whatever rust there is and use some sort of sealer or fluid film on it before next winter, didn't have a chance to last year.
You can swap to LED headlights (5x7 sealed beam) if you swap the grill also and all the marker lights. I did this to mine and use the trucklites LED headlights.
I believe it was a Hayden 3647. Works perfect. I have it set around 195 and when they do kick on, you can watch the temp gauge almost instantly drop. It was not a direct drop in, I cut out a good portion of the exterior of the shroud to make it fit and even then, it's such a tight fit, it barely...
Been awhile since I've been on here so here's some updates -
Added 05+ electric fans with Hayden controller
Flowtech ceramic coated headers
PCM4Less tune
New HVAC control unit
Recap over the last few weeks -
Flowtech Ceramic coated headers - done
EGR Delete - done
Replace all bump stops - done (minus one that was bad out of the box)
GM 05+ Electric fan install - done
Still need to get my LF axle seal & front diff fluid changed at some point.
Started to put the headers on Sunday evening, two stripped nuts on the studs, egr tube won't come out (had to cut) still need to remove it from the intake or just delete it + tune (I may just do this), broke the temp sender unit and a plug wire, lol. But at least the old ones are out right...
The benefits of living 15min from Summit Racing - Found a set of Flowtech shorty headers on the discount rack, silver ceramic coated, for half off retail. Didn't realize they were having a sale so I got another 20-25% off of that. No gaskets or hardware but I think I can manage :)
I cheated on my OBS....
I bought an '11 Sierra SLT Z71 Ext Cab on Monday. Love it already.
BUT - I'm still keeping the OBS until it dies. It was just time to upgrade to something nicer. It serves it purpose for trail rides, hauling some of my baseball team around, and whenever I get dirty and...
Gonna pull my yukon into work overnight friday to let it sit and warm up so I can come in saturday and change the oil, trans fluid, remount my fogs, and figure out which ABS sensor or hub is bad causing the ABS to kick in at slow speeds. Probably throw my tow hooks back on and give it a good...
I found both halves on line (cant remember where) for my 99. Coated them in POR15 and swapped them out. Mine wasn't leaking but it was a few months away from completely falling apart, it was that rusty.
I spent this past weekend hanging out with some overland guys in Columbus (OH) saturday then headed down to WNF to explore some forest trails and backroads with some subaru buddies. Had a blast, didn't really break anything, and got pretty muddy.
I'm lucky, couple of my friends are techs, once has his own lift in his garage/shop and I work in a parts dept. The parts aren't the problem, it's finding the time to do it all.
