I want to see your Tool Boxes

Thanks! Good to see some of the OGs are still around. I still stop by every once in a while when I get a chance to see what's up.

Picked up a new Grand Cherokee 4wd

Very nice!! Growing up in the performance scene had me looking at a couple SRT models but the main reason for another SUV was because we go on a lot of road trips and the Tahoe just wasnt practical anymore due to the loud exhaust and horrible fuel mileage (600hp supercharged 6.0:)) and our other...

Picked up a new Grand Cherokee 4wd

After searching for a new vehicle and comparing several different brands, models, options, etc, I finally decided on a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4wd. I was picky about the trim, options, color, etc so I had a hard time finding one locally and ended up buying one from out of state. Rather...

what is the fastest a tahoe/denali/escalade/suburban has gone in the 1/4?

Speaking of rears, the 10 bolt isn't as weak as some people think. The 8.5/8.6 10 bolt can take some abuse; it's the smaller 7.5 and 8.2" 10 bolts that are weak and tend to break behind any kind of power. Look at the turbo Grand Nationals; a few mods can get the front wheels off the ground and...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Thanks. I use Finish Line Pro Detail and 3M products. I started with the claybar, then used 3M cutting compound and Finish Line glaze with a hi-speed buffer, then finally rubbed in some spray wax by hand. Yes sir, polished version.

    Opinions on step rail removal

I painted the frame rails black finally so it looks better. I like the cleaner look but I'm still not liking how it looks higher. But soon I'll be throwing on a set of black or gunmetal TBSS wheels (20x10 with 315/35 rears and 20x8 with 275/40 up front) then drop it a couple more inches. That...

    Opinions on step rail removal

Counter-intuitive I know. But I've always built and raced camaros, t/a's, etc. Wanted to do something different. Something about the look on people's faces after getting spanked by an SUV. I can race down the track and carry my groceries with the same vehicle. Not too much different than an SRT8...

    Opinions on step rail removal

Yea, I agree. I don't like how it looks as though it's sitting higher, but I think it helps compliment the debadging and roof rack delete, giving it a "sleeker" look. Plus it shaved off about 45lbs, adding to the total of 365 lbs I've removed off so far (still working on more. Trading my wheels...

    Opinions on step rail removal

So I recently removed the step rails, but unsure whether I like the look or not. I'm in the middle of putting the truck on a diet so removing the rails was part of the plan to shed some excess weight for the strip and also clean up the look some. I like it but I dont lol. What do u guys think...

    Post Before and After Pics

Here's a pic of my old rearend and current setup. New rear has Moser axles, Detroit Tru-trac, 4.56 gears, Pro-form cover with bearing cap studs, and all Timken bearings. Old grille vs current: Color matched w/Street Scene polished inserts. I wrapped the bowtie with 3M dinoc series carbon fiber...

How long have you had your Black Bear tune?

I had Justin do a live tune on my 5.3 roughly 8 yrs ago and then again when I swapped in my supercharged 6.0. On the 5.3, I had just basic exhaust and intake upgrade. Along with the pcm retune for more power, I had Justin remove TM, speed governor, and correct the odometer for the bigger...

    handgun location?

I have an Alien Gear holster bolted to the side of the console in my Lexus and about to do the same in my Tahoe. Although not concealed, it's quickly and easily accessible, which is better than adding those few extra seconds opening the glovebox or center console in case you need it. And since...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Polished up my shifter today. Eventually I'm going to ditch the rubber boot and make a nicer one from black leather with red stitching.

Official Harbor Freight win or lose thread

Most of my tool collection is Snap-on and Craftsman since I use and abuse my tools on a daily basis, but HF does have a few things that I just can't see spending tons of money on from Snap-On, or tools that I just won't use thst often and wear out. But here's what I do have: Creeper (item...

Column to B&M floor ratchet shifter conversion

Since I was installing my new FLT trans, I decided to pull the stock shifter and install a B&M ratchet shifter in the console. I hate column shifters. I also removed my custom screen I mounted in the center console and fabbed up a plate for my trans temp gauge and button to retain my Tow/Haul...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Finished my console shift conversion, replaced crappy Performabuilt with an FLT unit and Yank converter, replaced the dual 40 series with a pr. of 10 series and a x-pipe, and a few small things here and there....

You can find out what gears you have by checking the rpo sticker in the glovebox; GU4 3.08 RATIO GU5 3.23 RATIO GU6 3.42 RATIO GT4 3.73 RATIO GT5 4.10 RATIO If you don't have the g80 posi unit, you'll have to buy a unit for gm 8.5/8.6 10 bolt, along with new bearings and races.

    Thinking of swapping transmissions

If the trans is already built and you don't plan on anymore than about 400-450hp, I'd say stick with the built 4l60.
