Touchscreen secondary laptop screen as a headunit?

I got to thinking... I've seen secondary screens that link to a laptop via USB cables, they can both mimic the screen displayed or be used as a second screen. Now, I've also seen them as being touchscreen, too. Since I mostly use my phone as my music source, can a touchscreen secondary screen...

Avalanche Trim (long read, sorry - but would like opinions)

Haven't been on the forum in a while, life has taken precedent. Don't have to sit in front of a computer filling out forms, am actually out working and living - yeah, I know, just the opposite of what everyone else is doing. Anyway, I was walking through a salvage yard, saw an Avalanche and a...

    ABS Plastic formed quarter panels?

I just can't justify spending over $1500 to have my rocker panels and quarter panels replaced. I saw a link to the Bushwacker rocker panel covers, they are just some molded plastic. So, I thought I'd order some ABS plastic, and attempt to heat it up and mold it to the contours of the rear...

    Sub enclosure Idea!!

Ive got this posted in the General Forum, but I think it belongs here more: If you're into tunes (and who isn't??), I had an epiphany last night, woke up out of a sound sleep! Since your spare tire obviously doesn't fit under the truck any more (if you even have one), why not remove the...

    2004 Yukon XL rear fill

Pretty much as the title implies.... I've got a 2004 Yukon XL, and I'm updating the entire system. Just replaced my alternator with a 253amp model from a 3500 series pickup (factory option! bolted right in!), will shortly be wiring up a second 1000cca battery. Dual 1/0 runs to the rear, fused at...

    Gauges going haywire

My gauges are randomly going all the way to zero, all of my idiot lights are coming on, then the gauges will start reading again. Sometimes it lasts a second or two, but it has occurred for up to 2 minutes. Truck runs just fine when they are down, but it's not something I want to keep happening...

    FYI - High Output Alternator

Having a charging problem with my XL lately, I think the alternator is working intermittently. It'll charge the battery while driving, but if the truck sits for more than 2 hours, my voltage is down to under 10, and I have to use a jump-pack to get it going. So, did a little research on...

Got a great deal on tires, thought I'd share.

Wife needed tires for her Expedition (I know, a Ford.....:(), so I did a little research. Needed some 285/70/17's (yes, it has a 3 lift, I can't leave anything alone). https://www.tirebuyer.com/tires/ironman/all-country-a-t/p/style/71156#sizes Ran me $564, tax included for the 285's, with free...

Anyone on a budget wanna roll on 20's?

    Painted my wheels!

I posted last fall that I got a set of Denali 20's, and I was planning on having them stripped and redone. Yeah, fat chance of that happening.... the only shop within 100 miles said they'd most likely run around $120 each. Hell, I could get some brand new Raceline Gunner wheels for that price...

    Yay! or Ghey?

Saw some blue smoke headlights and drl/turn signal's while perusing E-bay.. Opinions? Keep in mind, my YukonXL is blue, not silver like the one above. I'm checking out either of these smoked headlights for mine:

    What brakes to get?

Looking at RockAuto's website, and their Powerstop rotors and pads. If I'm spending the money, I might as well do the NNBS upgrade, and add the SS front lines. My question is: what "level" of braking power is worth the money? Are the Daily Driver level more than adequate, or should I step up to...

SCORE!!!!!! New tires on the way!!

Was perusing almost every internet retailer known to man, looking for tires in the middle of the night when I should have been fast asleep.... and just took a chance, looked up PepBoys. Searched for 35x12.50x20's, outrageously priced as always. Put in 275/65/20, and lo and behold...

    What is it worth?

Saw a '06 Z71 Suburban while driving yesterday, and my best friend is in need of a newer vehicle - his '98 Silverado is on its deathbed. 177K on the odometer, fully loaded with sunroof. Says it runs perfect, only reason he's getting rid of it is that he found a great deal on an '08 with less...

01 Suburban - runs and drives, parting out

Truck was totaled in August, hit dead square to the rear axle, pushed it over about 5", ripping the frame and bending mounts in the process. I needed the lower dash assembly, pulled that apart, but have the lower panel for the '04 Yukon XL. Removed the CAI, but I do have the stock intake from...

    So I'm an idiot....

...and perusing Craigslist, came across this: http://albany.craigslist.org/wto/5889142387.html 37x13.5x20 Toyo MT's, about 5K on them, $600 for all four. Other than the obvious penalty in mileage (should I expect to even be in double digits??), just HOW bad would my 5.3 bog without...

    Anyone running wheel dust shields?

I remember way back in the day I saw a couple of cars that had plastic shields inside their wheels, to keep brake dust from getting all over their new, shiny wheels. Today, I saw a bright red F150 that had color-matched ones, and I can say it looked sharp. So it got me thinking.... and here's...

Thoughts? 20 x 9's for my Yukon XL

Picking them up locally, later tonight, providing they are half as good as they look here. Am I stealing them at $160 for all four?

    Bought a Yukon XL

Just picked up an '04 Yukon XL to replace my '01 Suburban that was totaled. Insurance gave me just shy of $4000 for the ''Burb, and I spent $4200 for the 'Kon. I also bought back the 'Burb for $800, so I get to take everything I had on it and put it on the 'Kon, including the 285/75/16's...

Not exactly Stealth.... But how about (2) 10's in the rear quarter panel, with no loss of floorspace

What I had to do was tear out everything where the old factory sub was, the sheet metal underneath was completely rusted away. I used some aluminum coil stock, bent pieces to fit around the gas filler neck (after removing the shroud covering it), and siliconed and self-tapped screws the aluminum...

    Shock recommendations

I know everyone on here is a HUGE fan of Bilstein's, and if I had the cash, I'd pony up the $300+ for them. But, one of my best friends is a manager at an Autopart International, and they primarily offer KYB's. The Excel/ GR2's are the OE ride quality version, the MonoMax are the heavy-duty...

    Lets try this again.....

I asked about Ford Keys vs GM Lift Keys vs Ford Lift keys a couple weeks ago. No, I'm NOT going to use Ford lift keys for my Suburban so that I "could" lift the front end 5-6". I know damn well how bad driveline angles would be, and how quickly ball joints and pitman and idler arms would wear...
