Well it never caused a check engine light but I hooked up my tech2 and found 2 codes: p0523 for oil pressure sensor voltage high and p0341 for cam sensor performance. You're very right that people usually don't post how or if their issue was resolved.
In my case it was the cam position and cam solenoid sensors. I replaced these about a week after that post to you and haven't had the issue since *knocks on wood*
It should be the reverse of installing, there's threads on this forum that show how to install. The power is run to a junction box thing under the driver side kick panel area by the brake pedal. The module/brain is usually under center console tray or one of the seats

I've never had any luck with that site. I ordered a front license plate cover for an escalade once, and then later on i ordered a rail end cap for the same truck, and both times i get an email saying they couldn't get the part.
