?? Sounded like small metal ball bearings rattling during hot summer in Texas running that Shell RTG 5W30. But ONLY with acceleration !! Once I flushed out that Shell crap and started using my stash of Magnatec 10W30 it was all gone and DONE SON !! OVER !!! lol Dave- bayareadude84

1. once or twice a year ?? YIKES !! I drive my burb A LOT and carry heavy loads as it's being used as a work vehicle !! 10 hours a day 5 days a week !!! I do about 5 OCI's a year !!! 2. Hmmm.... I do Have some old Carquest(valvoline) fulll syn 5W-40 SN rated diesel oil from when they switched to Fram products !! Also have some gallons of Delo 400XSP 15W40 full syn but not sure if thats to thick even for our southern 100+ summers ??? I do know that my rig didnt like the Rotella...- bayareadude84

You have 2 VERY stupid mechanics. Every time I purchase one of these GMT800s first thing I do is run some oil flush, throw on a crap oil filter and dino oil drive for 100-200 miles, dump oil, replace that $3 oil pump o-ring, oil pan gasket, oil filter adapter gasket, replace with GOOD oil...- bayareadude84

And I STRONGLEY recommend sticking with full synthetic motor oil with these LSX engines and our bi-polar weather across the country !!! Blend and Dino oil(if you can still find any) I would leave for the winter beaters out there lol- bayareadude84

Welllllllllllllll I tested now discontinued Rotella Gas/truck fully syn (I had 200 qts of the stuff from clearance sales) on my crown vic police interceptor and my 01 burb and I never in my life heard so much engine clatter after 1000 miles or so !! What Oil To Use in My 6.0 Denali
If you havent done your oil pick up tube seal Fel-pro # 72401 I HIGHLY recommend it !! Cost under $3 right now on Amazon and you have to drop oil pan and pickup tube to replace it. But better do it now then when it fails and take out your oil pump !! My 2001 with 200K mile was HARD like a rock...- bayareadude84

Yes it's one of the most TOP RATED filters out there !! I run the XG3675 on my 01 burb with 2-3 4000K OCI's on it. I would NEVER run ANY filter pass 10K miles !! IMO a $10 filter is not worth passing "trash" into your $$$ engine !!- bayareadude84

His is a 2006 and it DOES NOT require Dexos !! Dexos is for 2011 and newer GM Vehicles I was taught this at GM service dept I worked at few years ago and this story in cars.com backs it up https://www.cars.com/articles/what-is-dexos-oil-2-422608/- bayareadude84
