Ok so...
The red area the belt is on spins all the time.
When the wires going to the compressor are energized with 12 volts the blue section gets magnetically pulled to the red part.
Then BOTH the blue and green areas spin WITH the red.
I was as work earlier so i wasn't real clear. Tapping...
Cool sounds like what happened with my Silverado.
A/C worked then would not even with 12v at the compressor plug.
Start the engine, put ac on max to energize the coil.
Get a 2 foot wooden stick.
And tap the face of the compressor into the pulley with the SIDE of the stick. If it engages...
Are you gettig 12v to the compressor plug? That is where you should start. If yes then the coil could be bad. Or the clutch is too worn and the coil cant pull it in because the air gap is too big.
So first find out if you have power at the plug.
Yeah all good questions. Early morning reply and the brain wasn't ready.
How bout some pics, i dont see how a blown tire can cause enough damage to warrant removal of the fender to keep driving.
If it had less than 300k on the engine, i would reuse the lifters. But the lifter trays may be worn so that could cause an issue. I personally know 2 people that reused lifters on 5.3s and have had no problems. One used a BTR Torque cam and the other was a summit brand cam. In the grand scheme...
Well after they figure out what over bore it needs collaborate with them to find a piston that gives you at least 9.5:1 compression with the 706 heads. You want quench to be in the .044 range for best detonation suppression.
Don't know what you use it for primarily, just driving or much towing...
Ok short version
Dead coil on cylinder 8.
Long version,
Check spark = no spark
I have a custom spark tester i made up out of an old sparkplug soldered to 3 feet of 12ga wire with an alligator clip on the end. That way I can stick it in a plug wire and clip it on the negative terminal to...
145k now. Plugs all gapped at spec so the dealership must have done a full tune up before i got it.
Dead hole is what the guys and i called a cylinder that wasn't just misfiring once and a while. It was "dead" as in every rotation it did not fire.
I found the culprit and will update
Yes only code and i haven't done plugs and wires since I bought it. It had i believe 116k on it when i got it but dont remember for sure. It is probably time for them, as i dont know if they were done prior to me buying it. And I am pretty sure it isn't just a miss, it feels like a completely...
Because the passenger side cover is where fresh filtered air enters the crankcase to be pulled through the engine to the driver side. Where it then pulls the vapors out and into the intake to be burned. If you remove the fresh air source you create new problems.
First things first. My 06 Silverado smoked a bit when the father in law had it at around 270k miles. I went to the local junkyard and grabbed a diver side valve cover from a truck so i had the old pcv style cover. I soaked it a few days in mineral spirits to soften the gunk and then pressure...
Not in a tahoe. But behind a 6.0 in a trailblazer ss. It gives a bit more stall speed off idle but once the converter clutch locks in it is the same as the 5.3 converter. I would say unless you are already going to separate the engine and trans, i wouldn't change it. But, if you are already...
This here. I can't even tell you gow many times i dropped a C clip in plain sight inside the diff and didnt see it. But the magnet found it every time.
It gets worse on the older models. The front diffs on the S series was vacuum actuated. So after your trans went low and got mushy shifts and tcase over filled there was a possibility that the detent valve would suck fluid by the seal and into your vacuum hose to the ball underhood. Then into...
