If you look up Certified Pre Owned GM warranty it has to be 75,000 miles or less, not sure if that applies to purchasing an extended warranty. You may want to check with the Dealer.

The Dealer may let you extend the warranty which would pay for the repair. They get the extended warranty sale plus the tranny repair. Check with the Finance Manager its worth a shot.
I believe it was discussed here before that the Dealer has to remove key fob 2 from the memory and rename your Fob 3 as Fob 2. Just going by memory so it may not be exactly correct and hopefully, someone else will chime in.
