Another GM disappointment. That is not a Blazer. Period.
Ever since GM became Government Motors and lived off the backs of all of us actual taxPAYERS, they have sucked. This is just more proof of what a disappointment Government Motors is now.
So I swapped plastic gears in the Eject mechanism and it worked, for a while, but then crapped out again and was no longer able to Eject CD's correctly. I am working with the in dash 6 disc head unit, not the separate units that I believe the Denali came with.
I am now looking for a...
1999-2002 Chevy 2500HD gas, complete 7 gauge instrument cluster. Similar to GMC Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade or Silverado SS which all have 7 gauges clusters.
This cluster has the additional Trans transmission temp temperature gauge that the normal 6 gauge cluster does not have.
This...
I bought my 04 Tahoe Z71 with 140k and it's rolling 280k this month, a little over 4 years later. This generation is reliable, but not bullet proof. There is the Castech head issue and common oil leaks from the 5.3. I'm on the original engine and trans, but both are showing their age. The...
That is some of the same results I had in the oil analysis. Have you changed the oil recently? If yes, what did you observe with oil pressure readings? With mine, I noticed a drastic improvement in oil pressure readings. A little over a week ago as a Hail Mary move, I went the "Bars...
Makes sense. Just asking since the reman engine cost is probably pretty darn close to the value of a 14 year old +- Tahoe. If you plan to keep it forever, then that matters less.
Yes I was asking. I have 277k on mine and it has good oil pressure, not sure about yours and if that is why you are looking at replacing the whole engine.
I would ensure your bottom end is toast before dropping the coin for a complete reman. My 04 was making what sounded like a bottom end clatter, but I thought it was more like lifter noise, either from a collapsed lifter or one that was stuck from the water in the oil. The way you describe...
In the past, I owned an 01 2500HD CC LB 4wd truck with a 6.0. Yes, I would say a 6.0 is a thirsty engine. I suppose it will react differently in a much lighter weight Tahoe, but others I know with 6.0's have said the same thing....they like to slurp the fuel. YMMV......
Got it changed. I ended up cutting the filter with a Dewalt sawzall....not too difficult once me and the sawzall were under there. Strange thing.....black nastiness came out of the filter when I dumped it out, but when I blew thru the old filter there was virtually no resistance from the...
I like the idea, but what is the cost to find one of those given their scarcity? I'd bet the take out engine cost would be close to the value of a high mile 2004 Tahoe Z71???? According to what I read, it only was offered in 05-07 1500 Ext Cab 4wd trucks.
I would assume since it is GMT800...
862's are supposedly good, but don't count your chickens till they hatch, err....crack. I have 862's on my '04 Tahoe 5.3 and they're showing signs of being cracked. Just got an oil analysis sample results back and I have water and coolant in the engine oil. I have to add water/coolant...
I'm thinking when people say hacksaw, they're using the wrong name for the type of "hack saw" they used to get the factory filter out?
Hacksaw, never going to fit where the filter is...
I don't remember in watching this thread, have you checked head gaskets? I have never used one, but there is a "block tester" you can rent from auto parts store. I was going to check mine too since it has 274k on the odo. You have to buy the test fluid, and only use 1/10 of the fluid.
What type of hacksaw is everyone using who's gone this route? My hacksaw has a frame to hold the blade and I don't see it getting in there. Is there a special hack saw with blade only? Thanks in advance.
Go back to the original aux trans cooler and see if it's still running warm. If it's not, then your problem is obvious, the larger aux cooler is interfering with the radiator's ability to cool.
