Possibly a stupid question, but one I need answered

These high-mount brake lights notoriously go bad. Pull it out, put a volt meter on it, and have someone hit the brakes. IIRC, you'll need to replace the whole assy if bad. I think I used some rtv black to ensure a weatherproof seal.

    Wheel Advice

Yeah understood on additional costs. I would like to hear from someone with direct TBSS experience to confirm.

    Wheel Advice

I beleive the limiting factor on the 20+ brake calipers is a minimum 18" wheel. 22's with the offset your looking at should clear plenty. With your current paint scheme I'm thinking bronze.

Please double check my t-case repair plans

If I recall the t-case halves are sealed with a RTV, I don't recall specifics. I replaced the hyvo chain and all rubber. I did add the case-saver for added comfort. If you plan to do the clutch pack, you'll need a special tool (always, right?) to determine proper shimming. J-44295 KENT MOORE...

    Losing coolant

I'd check the weep hole at the water-pump. Also the transmission dipstick, just to be sure (internal radiator leak). Coolant hose connectors at the firewall are notoriously brittle, and if you have rear air, that whole path. I got a relatively inexpensive pressure tester off AMZ that helped me...

    Rear hvac help needed please

Watching, I have rear air, but have been fortunate so far. You should be getting some good advice soon.

    2007 vs 2009 brake upgrade

A few questions about your rig, year, model, drivetrain? What size wheels do you have on now, or plan to have? I had spent a significant amount of time looking to upgrade my '02 Z71 4WD front calipers, as I already had the 2 piston rears. I do not recall the specifics (others can chime in), but...

    2001 Chevrolet Tahoe Won't Start

I think people here want to help you get it going. Only you can decide if it's worth the time or effort... (Secondary to your primary issue) Sorry to hear about CA Smog, I have the same challenge. I had to replace the cats on my '02 Z71. MagnaFlow has a CARB rated, bolt-in, Y-pipe with dual...

    2001 Chevrolet Tahoe Won't Start

You'll want to follow @Scottydoggs advice and get things running first. Regarding smog, you didn't say what state you're in, and whether you attempted to smog before the "not running" situation popped up. A momentary loss of power to the ECU can reset all of your emissions readiness monitors.

    Rear main seal

That's on driver's side rear and is a block-off (oil cooler) plate that notoriously leaks due to warpage. Replacing that gasket will give you temporary relief. Highly suggest replacing with a billet plate.

Check your heater hose connections. W/ part numbers

Those firewall connections are the worst. Thanks for the tip and P/N's. How's your A/C, with the thought of summer road trips in mind?

2003 Suburban E-Fan Conversion Radiator Question

This might be a good opportunity to get a tune, regardless of how stock or not you are. BB and others can program the fans and optimize your fuel, timing, and torque tables, etc. I myself used HPT, but that's an investment of its own. Your mechanic should be able to tell you upfront whether or...

2003 Suburban E-Fan Conversion Radiator Question

All aluminum will work well for you, and I think your harness choice is sound. Are you self-programming, local or sending it out?

2003 Suburban E-Fan Conversion Radiator Question

I have a 2002 Tahoe Z71. For us its a choice between 28" and 34"radiator cores, and my knowledge is limited to the 1500 series. It must be nice having a 40" option(?). Of all the conversions I've seen, it is the 34" radiator version that is needed. It really can be any quality rad... as far as...

    Oil Pressure

There's a good possibility that your trans will need in-depth attention around 150k-175k, so while taking care of the RMS, consider rebuilding it while it's out. Have you addressed the oil cooler block-off plate? It always makes a mess until its replaced with a solid billet piece, gasket...

    misfiring on driver side cylinders

Not so much bolt tightening, but actual gasket shrinkage. Smoke check (when stone cold) or use your choice of (safe) aerosol spray to see if your idle speed changes when you spray the area with engine running.

    misfiring on driver side cylinders

Intake manifold gasket shrinkage could be the problem. When the engine warms, expansion helps "re-seal" it... possibly getting un-metered air when cold.

    2002 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 Ticking?

That's a good indication. Extraction will be key, along with chasing the threads after. ARP has a good replacement for those bolts.

    2002 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 Ticking?

I fat-fingered the previous "non-response" and posted with no comment. I agree with Scottydoggs on exhaust manifold bolts, it's a common issue. As the engine/manifold heats up, expansion can reduce the tick.

Brake line replacement. Bleeding and abs box

It's a problem (bleedding) even when you don't change all that stuff out. I had less than standard brakes for several years on my '02 Z71... I finally got a Tech2 and what a difference that made. Highly recommend for the ABS and Master bleed. "Just" a matter of keeping air out when you pop the...

I don't need no stinking catch can!

I would increase the frequency of checking your reservoir, if it's full it can't extract any more oil vapor. With 290k I'd expect a bit of blow-by.

    Cylinder head recommendation for 5.3

Recommend sonic testing your block to see how far out you can go, most/all can go to 3.900, some to 3.902, and a few even 3.903. Have fun!

    Cylinder head recommendation for 5.3

^^^^^^^^^^^ This, a S/C AND not increase your compression ratio... if a bore/stroke or 6.0L (up to 408 ) is not in the cards, gearing is a more economical way to get things moving.

    Drive train noise....somewhere

I'm not aware of any symptom of case wear outside of a leak. How is your transfer case fluid, changed recently? Look good? Correct fluid? There is a "case saver" which isn't hard to install if you pull the transfer case and split it. There's also a hyvo chain and a clutch pack in there as well...
