How long do TPMS sensors last? I bought "new" OEM ones at the last tire replacement 4 years ago, almost to the day. But I have no idea how long they sat in a warehouse prior to my purchase. Also, this is the same tire that just had the valve stem replaced a few weeks ago. Can these be screwed up...
Man, I'd be sweating if that had happened to me. I read over and over about a misfire code being indicative of a lifter failure! I'm glad it was just a plug. Why NGK and not ACDelco? I'm asking because I just swapped mine and went with OEM.
When my OEM stock (BB tuned) tranny failed earlier this year, I was in the middle of moving and needed my Yukon back ASAP. My only viable option was to install a GM-built HD transmission, as the local dealer had one in stock and couldn't get a non-HD one for weeks. That was $4200. By the time...
I've used mine with and without the Escalade appliques. When I bought Escalade style LED taillights, even though they were marketed for Tahoe/Yukon, and wired to directly plug into the factory harness (unlike real Escalade taillights), they were shaped to fit the Escalade appliques. So I now...
That's what I used on my Yukon. It's the same at the ends where it matters. The difference is the width of the CHMSL lens. What's cool is that the Eagle Eyes fully-lit spoiler uses the same lens shape as OEM Escalade, so the light can be swapped to and OEM Escalade spoiler and fit perfectly.
My aftermarket spoiler started warping before the clearcoat could fail. I ended up buying an OEM take-off from an Escalade that was already painted the same dark grey color as my Yukon. The aftermarket lamp fit perfectly. So it ended up being a nice upgrade over the black aftermarket one.
I figured someone would mention the headlight shortcut. I tried it once and found it to be almost as much work with higher risk of cracking a tab off the back of the headlight or scratching the paint. With my panel tool and a cordless ratchet I can get the cover off in 10 minutes.
Love my Z. I...
I dug into the Yukon headlights yesterday. I cleaned all the connectors with De-Oxid, and tested the lights using a 12V power supply. I put everything back together and all was working fine. Then I put the bumper cover back on and noticed the DS low beam was out again! I balled up my fist like...
I kept the OEM ones. However, my shop isn't built yet and they're stuck in boxes in the back of a shelf, behind a bunch of other stuff, really high up, in a building far away. I may or may not bother hunting for them just yet.
They are aftermarket units. They plug into the factory bulb sockets and are internally wired from there. The DRL and low beam circuits must be joined because the low beams are single-filament bulbs. This weekend I'll pull everything apart and diagnose it. I'm hoping there's a short in one of the...
It gets better. I manually turned on the headlights in the dark. Passenger side low beam is on normally. Driver side low beam and both highs are very dimly on. High beam is switched off. There's definitely a wiring issue somewhere!
It's not a bulb this time. The headlight illuminates when the Yukon is in drive and it's dark enough (from what I can see reflected off whatever I'm following). During the day, when the bulb should be illuminated for DRL, it's off. So it's an electrical issue in the DRL circuit, I think...
I just noticed I've got a headlight bulb out. I'm getting 13-14 months out of incandescent bulbs. I've tried Sylvania Silverstar, PIAA XTreme White and most recently these very yellowish Philips X-treme Vision, which are supposed to last longer, but don't apparently. It wouldn't be a big deal if...
I plan to install a big brake kit someday. My latest set of 22" tires is close to being replaced. I just used my spare recently, and realized it's 11 years old, and only 17". So this seems like a good time to get a fifth 22" wheel to use for the spare. I'll mount the best of the current set...
I just compared prices between Amazon and the original SolderStick site. Even on sale, the Chiwanese stuff on Amazon is a lot cheaper, like half the price. I put a kit on my birthday wish list! Thanks for the endorsement.
Check out LT Tolman on YT. They sponsor him. He has a discount code if you order direct from SS. I see you ordered from Amazon. I haven't compared prices. Just sharing an option.
I did have to use my needle nose vise grips to wiggle the spark plug socket off one of the new plugs after tightening. Otherwise, I got everything done with a 3/8 drive ratchet and extensions.
I changed the plugs in the Yukon today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Even #8 was manageable without pulling the fender liner and other shenanigans. I used a 1" extension on the plug socket which gave me room to clear the exhaust manifold on one side and the firewall heat shield on...
We moved out of town this year because of the rapid development going on where I lived. I was concerned that my pyro tendencies would bother the new neighbors. I needn't have worried. After I finished with my typical 30ish mortar volley, my neighbor pulled a utility trailer into his front...
This was a head scratcher. It leaked down from 22psi to 15psi in about a mile. I swapped to the spare, and the pressure held at 15psi overnight. No visual punctures. Nothing shown by the soapy water test...
...until I wiggled the valve stem. Then I found the intermittent leak between the valve...
I got to practice my tire changing drill this morning on the way to work. It's a good reminder to cycle the winch occasionally to keep it from seizing, and to check the spare tire pressure. Thankful for TPMS so I could pull over before the tire was damaged.
