2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Thought I would close this out. All in all, I'm giving Chevrolet a C+. The car is fixed and the new motor feels stronger. But that is probably from driving a Wagoneer for a month, woof, woof. They reimbursed me $14,240, two months of rental cars and 2 Uber trips to the airport. They...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

It’s never too soon to laugh. I had Reunite on speaker and my wife was laughing. GM wanted to hang up fast and be done with us. I said, hold-on. I have too small issues to discuss…. Haha

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

I got the car back, again not a great experience. I knew it was going to come today and was thinking he’d give me a heads up. Went outside for a run, turned right and bam, I see him drive by the house. Said he got in 3pm yesterday but was too late to deliver. Haha. He also had zero paperwork...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

I'll do a final update when I get it back and report on everything. As of 2/22: I received a diagnostic email, from the Tahoe, so I decided to call the Stevinson in CO and get an update. Service advisor said it was running and they were going to put some miles on it to ensure nothing popped...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Thank you, that is right, now I remember that name. They did give options of flying and driving back or shipping. Since CO and Kansas are pretty boring, I think I’ll know what I’ll do. Next up, conversation on extended warranty. Just the motor or will they reset the entire drivetrain.

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

It appears my letter to GM for Lemon law worked. The dealer called (not customer care…) that the motor arrived last week and they are installing it. Next up is a different team, GM roadside assistance, to get the car back to Arkansas.

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

We were escalated once we told and wrote them we wanted a replacement or repurchase. No attorney, Arkansas had everything laid out, what you had to say etc. I will post my letter when I get home. She was the first to have answers for everything and nice. It’s like she doesn’t care, doesn’t...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

My wife finally talked to someone helpful. They asked us to submit all receipts for rental car. They will pay it all as often as we want. 3 days at a time, 1 month, whatever we need. She does not have an ETA for the engine (6-9months in prior cases). She told GM we are requesting a...

2022 6.2 High Country - Low Oil, Likely Blown Motor

Let’s see who gets a motor first. Mine was diagnosed Jan wk 1, at dealer Dec 31st. We were approved to send monthly rental car bills in this week. The only caveat, I submit for lemon law at 30 days per my states rules.

2022 Tahoe with check engine constantly and other problems..

Yep, go to your states AG and search lemon law. They should have all the details listed out. For reference Arkansas - comes with contacts for GM, payment expectations, etc.. https://arkansasag.gov/wp-content/uploads/Lemon_Law_booklet_final_11-1-16.pdf

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Based on a recommendation from a friend who is Lemon'ing his F-150 he told me to look at that as an option to limit liability. At 30 days without resolution I can file. I understand GM would rather sell a new vehicle with a motor but after a call with Customer Case last night talking about...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

1 - I need a vehicle that hauls 5 kids, a spare Tahoe is too much $$$. 2 - But to your point, I actually have a Rivian R1S on order that will replace my wife’s BMW sedan, tentative delivery Feb-Mar, that would fill the gap and give us increased flexibility but no confirmed date.

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Just thought I would give an update. Chevy Customer Care is almost comical. They have called every week to say no ETA on a new motor which I do appreciate. Yesterday I called and said I'd like to setup a process for them to reimburse me for the rental car - currently $3,500 and growing. They...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

That’s close to what my dad said who has rebuilt his share of motors (poor and mechanically inclined) - he thought it would be caused by oil starvation. Unfortunate event, that’s for sure.

    Below msrp or invoice

Nah, just SUVs, my dealer has pickups on the lot, they are still selling every Tahoe, Denali and Escalade before they arrive. Base Yukons are starting to show up on the lots.

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Dealer called, they ordered a new engine. Thrust bearing broke and metal shavings throughout the motor. I’ll talk to GM tomorrow and figure things out, engines are currently backordered. He had no guess on time but said a month was a good guess.

    Below msrp or invoice

Locally (AR), Caddy's are $10k+ over, Yukon and Tahoes are MSRP to + depending on dealership. The only thing below MSRP are Jeep Wagoneers and its been that way for almost a year now. Same on Ram products.

Update - GM called me tonight, they have been trying to reach the dealer and do not have an answer. They thanked me for being patient.

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

Haven't heard from the dealer yet but yes, it sounded like a diaphragm leaking to us BUT where its coming from, only intake plenum. And the Denver dealer said when he touched the intake he could feel a vibration. I also had something that sounded like a belt squeak 4-6 weeks ago, maybe I was...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

That is the best thing I've heard - thank you! They don't really want to mess with my wife :) not just rednecks from Bentonville. And responding to the post above about expectations. Yes, I think we paid ~$84k MSRP. Expectations are higher when it breaks, I totally understand not having...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

That's funny because on the way home my wife said, maybe we should go back to a BMW. This was our first GM vehicle after 12 or so BMW/Audi/MB's - the only cars we have every owned. We wanted the size for roadtrips like this and I like the styling. If they don't make it right we will...

Call # 5 to GM reaped more info and more followups for them. What we were told from GM - you get a $48 a day for rental. Ah, a one way car to Arkansas is $462 a day. Also, if you can get me a 6 passenger 4wd vehicle for $48 a day please set that up. Ok, I understand, let me put you on hold...

2022 Lifter Issue? - w/video, out of state issue (edit: thrust bearing broke)

I ended up at Stevinson Chevrolet - it’s right off i70. The snow was insane this AM, avalanche warning when I got up. They think it could be a motor bearing..? Basically, no one helps or gives a clear answer. How does GM/dealer not have a case scenario for this? Im now on the way to Denver...
