Got my 2015i Yukon Denali on Saturday morning, red OnStar light of death with GPS with crossbar at mile 153. Doesn't seem to be related to water as it hasn't been washed, but it did snow...

Anyone got a service bulletin reference number or language as the dealer is already playing the "must be an onstar issue, not GMC issue" game.

I'll try to get you something when I pick mine up today.

Thanks. I don't think it will take much leaning to get past this first wave of default dealer/gm denials, but I want to get this moving as it is really a pain. Sorry for the pelting of the questions below but my OCD is on fire about this...

Did anyone have these issues without the OnStar light on your mirror going red as well?

Did the dealer specify that it was the whole antenna assembly that had to be replaced (XM/OnStar/GPS) or just some of the connections or separate antenna (are they separate? many years ago I used to work on Audis and they were in the same sharkfin but were independent components)?

Since I am now scared that water may have gotten in from the antenna, where is the best place to check, specific to this issue, short of dropping the ceiling to look?

Is the fix so far exclusive to component swapping for correct antenna, or is there a software update I need to make sure I get as well? (I read that some before had the OnStar module swapped as well or in place of the antenna, but so far for the Yukon's that are 2015i's it seems to be exclusive to the antenna and not the module, I think)

Thanks in advance to all for your knowledge dumps as I am an older Yukon (2009) driver before this and this is my first new car in 20 years and I don't have all the base knowledge yet.

Ok so since i started the thread i thought id update everyone. after the initial fix on my onstar module and and new nav antenna, ive still been having problems. not the original problems but the nav screen blacking out for random periods of time, the screen not responding to touch, flickering etc. after a bunch of trips to dealership they are talking about a possible buyback. from what im told this is a problem plaguing silverados and the dealer where i bought my tahoe has seen a few '15 silverados get bought back without much hassle. I'll let you all know how that goes..

DC Yukon - it looks like we are just about neighbors, I'm also in Alexandria. my 2015i Yukon had a new OnStar module installed as soon as I bought since the original one wasn't working when I purchased it. The new module and GPS worked for a few weeks, but then out of nowhere I got the red X on the GPS once again and a red light on OnStar. I took mine over to Lindsay Cadillac. They determined it was the antenna and ordered a new one for me, which took about a week for them to get it. The antenna is a combo one, for GPS and OnStar. The Cadillac dealer painted the antenna prior to me bring it to have it installed yesterday. So far it works fine, no water leaks, no rattles from the headliner or anything, plus they cleaned the vehicle for me. I would highly recommend you consider taking it over to Lindsay Cadillac in Alexandria. They are much more professional, nicer and do better work than the Chevy GMC dealer in Alexandria. And by the way, I am in no way affiliated with any dealer or anything, just a happy customer.

I had posted earlier - Back in January. Mine was out after the first couple hundred miles. I had to wait a while for a new antenna to show up - but they swapped it out - and I have not seen any recurring issues. I too was concerned about water - but saw none - they dropped part of the headliner and pulled the antenna - put a new one on - it works fine now. was only in the shop for about 4 hours.

Good luck - the parts are out on back order as I suspect they have to change them all.

Went to Cadillac dealer and they ordered a new replacement antenna and had it painted and swapped it out. It worked for them for a while but when I got there it had already gone out again. They ordered a new onstar module and are swapping that out on Monday to see if that fixes it since the antenna didn't.

To be continued.

Got a call yesterday that a replacement Antenna Module was in and need to be painted. Took the Denali in today to have it installed. Hopefully this takes care of the GPS issue.

I also showed the service technician the issues I'm having with the Intellilink screen "rolling". He said its caused by electrical interference and the Corvettes were plagued with this issue pretty bad. Most likely will require a complete radio replacement.

Looks like it will be in the shop for a few days.

Well I got a call last night from the dealer and after testing it looks like my entire radio suffers from an electrical interference issue causing to the screen roll effect after stating the car. Service technician said this plagued the corvettes pretty bad. They have to order a new radio system including screen which may take a few days to arrive.

They are also replacing the antenna to fix the GPS issue as well. Should have it back by Friday.

2015 tahoe antenna ?

I wish someone could post a 2 or 3 month removed experience from a fix of these issues to let me know whether replacement of these parts actually worked. I purchased a new 2015i Tahoe about a month ago. It has been in the shop since the second day. I had no navigation, red x over GPS, red light on Onstar, and "service rear camera." The dealership changed the rear view camera, then the onstar module, then informed the true problem was the human interface module. That was then replaced. Lastly, and on week three at the shop, a rain came in and the technician noticed water coming in through the driver's side roof from the antenna. That has now been ordered. I am at a cross roads of being offered certain concessions to keep the vehicle "with all the newest and corrected parts" or to accept a buy back. I am honestly conflicted as to whether trading the vehicle in on another one on the lot will not result in the same (or some of the same) issues. Perhaps, i am better off keeping the fixed issues, particularly in light of what GM offers for this kind of experience - additional warranty, make your first payment, etc. Perhaps, i got a lemon and no concessions are worth further inconvience. How widespread are these issues?? What a nightmare experience.
