Alright I've got the PCM swapped and everything is running a little bit better now. I even activated the tow haul switch which will be a nice feature when driving through the mountains, the truck can be kind of a dog trying to get up the mountains and it's tough on the transmission with the larger tires. Tonight I will hopefully install the efans I am just working on putting together a wiring harness that will control them through the PCM.

As far as my thoughts on the swap go I found that the throttle response is a little bit better, shifts are a little bit smoother, and idle is a little more stable. Add to that the tow haul switch which will be very useful and I thought I would never use it and the ability to control the efans this was a great mod to do.

Now to find someone's unfinished 383 short block on the cheap...

If you want really crisp throttle response and a little more airflow, get the Jantzer ported throttle body. I had to get used to how much more responsive it was.

Well I have always considered getting a new throttle body but I was never sold on whether or not it made that big a difference. Thanks foreverfalcon40, I contacted your buddy and I'm going to buy his off of him.

Please not the actual jantzers name on ebay has disappeared as far as items for sale but the is another seller who looks to be have the exact same description layout almost. all looks the same so may have just re-registered under new name. http://stores.ebay.com/Throttle-Body-Superstore

I just checked he/they don't seem to have throttle for the our engine 5.7

This is what I found on eBay (only BBK)

Item: BBK 1710 96-98 GM VORTECH 305/350/454 80MM POWER PLUS THROTTLE BODY

unknown at this time.
Yyeah it is possible that if you add a K&N FIPK later it will not perhaps have hardware long enough to fit that mounting adapter on as well not to mention that it will push the ducting farther into the hood.
