I am being prompted to complete a 15 min. system update every time I turn off my 2022 SLT. I haven't completed the update mostly because I never seem to have 15 minutes to burn. I pressed the update once, but when I opened the car door to get out it disrupted the update so I gave up.

Has anyone seen any benefits from completing the updates?

Did you wait till it said you can exit the vehicle on the screen? Once hitting the update it takes 30 seconds or so and the message will pop up saying that you can exit the vehicle.

The Facebook forums have been littered with folks that had their cars bricked due to the latest update. Dead batteries drained and weird errors. I’d hold off until it’s fixed.

According to my service advisor (who I have trusted for 20 years) tells me to NEVER EVER do a OTA update!!! He says just wait until I need service and if he feels the update is necessary they will do it for me in the shop, too many vehicles have been bricked and towed in because of failed OTA updates.

Great advice!

How can I turn off the update prompts?

I NEVER do ANY software updates unless I'm having a definite problem and I SPECIFICALLY KNOW that update will address that problem. When Apple has an update for my Mac, you can click on a link, and it will detail EVERY single thing that update does. General Motors does not do this. I have NEVER done ANY updates on my Tahoe. I'm perfectly happy with how it is working. Remember, it is VERY common for updates TO BREAK THINGS that were working or to TAKE FEATURES AWAY from you that you enjoy. A friend did a software update on his vehicle. Now every time he puts the car in reverse it emits a loud beeping sound like a dump truck backing up. Moreover, if for some reason, I hate the update that was done to my Mac I can easily revert back to its previous state. You cannot do this with General Motors. You are stuck.

Got a "third and final chance" message in east Miss. Tuesday. May have interrupted it when we were ready to go. Got another "final chance" message in west Miss. that worked OK with more time. Living on the edge.
I'm wondering if the remote start failures are fixed or still laying in wait.
