So I of course am playing with all the buttons in the Tahoe. Since it’s a new for
ME I Purchased used SUV it has 147 mi on it. I went at 1:30 am to get a drink and snack. The Stable Traction control light came on after I pressed it on and off. Said I need service. Well that’s not what you want to see but it did. Got my snacks and it went off. Stoped to eat snacks went on again then turned off the SUV and it went away. I noticed that when it was off (stable traction) the car ran different. So I’m asking what should I do. Take it to the dealer or mechanic? If it stays of well great but what if it comes back again. It could be a half dozen reasons. Well I’m taking it to the mechanic now. uhhh.

First: Stop going for snacks. It's obvious your rig is trying to tell you something.

Second: Hopefully the mechanic is aware of common problems for this warning: Hub bearing and ABS sensor or wiring. Could be something else but many posts here with these culprits.

There are many things that can trigger the service TC warning but the only way to know what triggered it is to use a scanner that can scan all of the modules on the vehicle. A Tech 2 is the best for these, but there are others. I also have an Innova bluetooth dongle that works with the RepairSolution app to deliver the complete analysis that I take with me on road trips.

Mine would shift really hard whenever the abs and stabilitrac would cut off
I can’t remember if it was a wheel speed sensor on the hub or what it was throwing it off
I do remember I tuned it out completely when I cut off my dod and I’ve no longer had the issue.
When I say cut it off completely I disabled the traction control from the computer system.
Never go to a dealer they will rip you a new one
Find you a local trusted shop that won’t do the same

Thank you all.
So you may nod or laugh or both. As I’ve stated before the stabilizer light cam on (2011 Tahoe LTZ Z-71) and with a written warning that it needed service. Well good news is I changed out the spark plugs. Should I say my mechanic changed out the plugs. The warning light has not come on. (Fingers crossed). Turns out the previous owners changed out the plugs but there was one that was really hard to get and if I recall correctly my mechanic stated it may have been an original plug or very old plug.

Thank you for all your advice and a shout out to Mikez.

Well the stabializer light has come on again. Meanwhile they have now replaced the OEM part for the ABS system. Still came on again. So I have options. talk to the mechanic and see why they chose the ABS system, what code was used etc. I trust the mechanic but I am disappointed that this is going on. They did find the code while hooked up the computer of the vehicle.

Stay tuned .

So I finally fixed the problem. The Stabilitrac had issues . Turns out it was a break switch. The Dealer changed it out. The light has not come on again. After the spark plug change as well as fluids changed out and now this switch. Things seem to run a lot better in my 2011 Tahoe. Just thought I would update everyone.
