Just unboxed some raybestos front rotors and one of them has these grooves in them.

I already installed it and now wondering if this is gonna be a problem.View attachment 399243
Looks like some sort of factory defect, if you bought them local I would maybe try and exchange them but otherwise shouldn't really be a problem.
from that angle the rotor looks very thin to me

Wtf!

The brake pad clips have like springs in them to push the pads away from the rotor. I picked up some oreilly calipers, passenger side has the stock style clips drivers side doesn't, has reg clips w/ no springs. And the spring style clips won't fit the O'Reilly driver side bracket...ugh

Check this BS out - I went to three different Oreilly's and had them pull every front left caliper they had on the shelves. Everyone was packaged with the standard/generic pad clips (no spring/prong to push pads away from the rotor). Not a single one would take the stock-style clips with prongs. I about lost my shit as I had already spent the better part of the day installing the passenger side. I even had them pull a couple of passenger side calipers, which were packaged with and accepted the stock-style clips. WTAF?

Driving home, pissed - stopped in the Autozone with 15mins to close. Asked to look at their calipers, same part #/same style caliper with the letter GM on the cylinder as Oreilly - but they were packaged with the correct clips.

What's with these clips? Can't say that I've seen them on other vehicles, don't think my 02 Yukon had them.

Now I get to undo/redo everything I did today.. Why is everything a pita these days, nothing, and I mean nothing comes correct it seems and it's always the stupidest shit, f'n pad clips.

I went thru the same thing yesterday ended up buying the autozone clips that they sold and packaged seperately for $9.95

That is a non-directional finish from the factory. Similar to honing on cylinder walls. It's a way to make the surface true and also allow for the pads to bed in and mate properly. Just install the brakes with proper lube on the backing pads, lube the pins, and make the anti-rattle clips are new or cle and off. All set to run

The Bleeder valve will not stop weeping no matter how tight I make it??

It is an incredibly minor seep around the threads, I have to stick the corner of a paper towel into the threads to see any wetness.

I am reading that using thread locker or Teflon is not a good idea; however, I also see brand new bleeder vales that come with thread locker on them - so what's the deal??
