I’m currently using the Pulsar LT and also a Blackbear tune to have my AFM disabled. Even though I’m not having any issues, I thought I’d go ahead and delete the whole system. I went with a BTR stage two cam with upgraded Johnson lifters and trunnion upgrade kit. I’m currently waiting for my ported L86 intake manifold and ported throttle body so I can take it to my installer. ECM and TCM will be sent out to HP tuners.

If you plan on keeping your rig for a long time, spend the money and do the AFM delete. You don’t have to do the upgrades like I did. You can do an OE replacement AFM delete kit for way cheaper. Of course there is also installation and tuning.

Congrats on the kit! Please let us know how it goes and if you have any wisdom from dealing with CARB tests after the delete.

I will definitely keep this thread updated. Just waiting on a couple more parts. I’ll also get some dyno numbers before and after.
If you want to be CARB legal you need to get an OE spec non DOD camshaft then disable the AFM system through tuning or a one of those disablers. I heard that CARB/ Smog testing can detect a tune. Again, I’m not sure if this is true or not. I know a guy so I’m good.

Definitely interested in seeing some of the before and after dyno results!

Sure you can do an AFM/DFM delete with an OE non AFM cam; But what fun would that be? If you've got to swap the cam anyway why not go for some extra usable HP/TQ.

Sweet.
What did they do to port the intake?
Porting was done by Chuy’s porting and performance in Mesquite,TX
Not sure the exact tools he used. He does great work. I don’t have a picture of a non ported manifold and throttle body but a lot was taken off. Should see some healthy gains.
