Won’t be long before they are sitting on dealer lots waiting for buyers like the good old days.
Or maybe those days are gone?

They seem to be the only GM model that isn't starting to stack up on lots so far. Lot of factors go into that but with them being primarily a "family mover", those that can afford them will continue to buy without pushing for discounts because....well, just because they can. The guy that has a 3-4yr old truck that doesn't need one is probably more likely to put the purchase off of a new one for a year or two or simply wait until additional rebates and/or incentivized financing is offered.

If I was shopping now (and had access to supplier pricing) I'd definitely spend some time shopping for a dealer willing to sell one at supplier since my guess is that custom orders aren't anywhere near what they were even 6 months ago...

Nothing like taking the wife to breakfast, parking the Lexus in the back, going in, coming back out, mechanic swaps out the Lexus out for the Yukon, and walking back out with her, rounding the corner to where she parked, and handing her the FOB. She is overwhelmed with happiness, said she thought she would never see the day. I haven't told her I have a matching 2500HD I will be driving home.

After 9 months (technically longer) my day finally arrived today! After test driving a 2022 GMC Yukon XL Denali that my local dealer had in late June of 2022 and passing on it for numerous reasons I placed an order for a 2023 in mid July soon after they started accepting orders for 23 models. After months of dealing with constraints, and allocations, and considering all possibilities and eventually backing out of a few options that were originally must haves, my Yukon was finally built at the end of February and arrived at the dealer on April 19. Today I finally took delivery of it. I traded in my 2014 Silverado for the Yukon so time will tell how much I'll miss not having a truck but I think I've found and figured out solutions to all things that I used the truck for.

My Yukon XL is as follows:
- Titanium Rush metallic. Totally happy that I waited for the colour and didn't bite on an available one in a different colour
- panoramic sunroof
- 22" wheels soon to be replaced with aftermarkets
- power side steps which we'll see how they handle the snow and cold next winter
- adaptive cruise control
- engine block heater

I've got 17 km on the odometer so far so I haven't had much time behind the wheel yet but so far I'm loving it. Looking forward to really getting settled in with it. Now I'm just waiting for the roof cross rails and black badges to come in so they can be installed. Future plans include a chrome delete and possibly a level kit.

FINALLLYYYYYYYY

I had a build out with a regional dealer since Sept of 2022 and although they claimed to have an allocation, nothing ever popped with them. I've gotten so frustrated since my build has NOTHING on it except ACC and Sunroof (no wheels, no running boards, no trailering - nothing) that I decided to submit a build with a local volume dealer on 4/18/23 and it hit immediately.

Local Dealer

4/18/23: Build submitted
5/3/23: Build Accepted by GMC
5/5/23: 3000 - Accepted for production
5/9/23: 3300 - TPW soon.

Yea, it sucks because dealers are allocated based on last years sells. And if GM is accepting certain builds once an allocation has been given to a dealer. As simple as motor size could have been the difference between being accepted or denied. Good thing you found a dealer that sells a lot!

If that's the case, then it could take price competitive dealers at least a year AFTER overall supply meets or exceed demand to see an increase in allocations relative to other dealers.

Received an email from GMC today to let me know......there's no update but don't worry they will continue to update me as new information becomes available. I had really hoped things would get better with our order being accepted, but gosh, GM's communication/update system is absolutely atrocious. "Updates" are rare, and are often inaccurate. Hoping we get an update that it's on a train bound for Idaho soon, darn thing was supposedly built 3 weeks ago.

My wife drove her new Yukon around for 2 days before the email came with the "It's been delivered to your dealership" email. I almost went back and asked them for e 2nd one lol. I am not sure why GM lags with updates, sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.
