Replaced crank position sensor, vehicle cranks but wont start

On my 05 yukon I have just replaced the crankshaft position sensor, as it was leaking pretty good. With everything put back together, the vehicle will crank but won't turn over. My understanding is that I need a relearn, but the vehicle should be able to start without this done, no? I replaced the sensor with Delco 213-354.

Yes, it should still run. The engine needs to be revved to perform the relearn. I'm thinking you either didn't plug the sensor in all the way, have a fault in the harness or connector or the new sensor is defective.

Looks to be defective. Bought off Amazon and as others have noted in the reviews, it was a cheap Chinese part that was defective. Thx

If I have the luxury of time for an order to ship, I'll do RockAuto. Sometimes Ebay, if the seller is one of the manufacturers or at least a verified business.
At least payments with PayPal can be disputed if things ever get ugly...

If in more of a rush, NAPA or O'Reilly's online with local pick-up.
My trusted mechanic friend is all NAPA for every job in his shop, so my comfort level that quality (working) parts from NAPA is pretty high.

I have not done any auto parts procurement from Amazon, other than my recent purchase of Sylvania headlight bulbs. At $18, I figured it was not a big risk for a couple of bulbs.

I buy a lot of parts on Amazon, but buyer beware. Do your research on part numbers. Their "fitment" search engine may say it fits or may not fit. I buy things that they say wont fit but do, because the GM dealer parts guy said thats the correct number.
Also many sellers on Amazon are 3rd party sellers so if you have a problem like I did getting brake pads in lieu of my surge tank heater hose, then you have to send back and wait. Sometimes (although rare) getting previously installed parts. I will say most of the time, everything turns out, but there are the exceptions that get very irritating if they do not turn out right.

I typically find part numbers on RA and see if it's on Amazon. In this case, I did re-order on RA after the fact, and received the same part stamped made in china. I returned and bought a Delphi, everything is ok now

My understanding is that Delphi was/is a primary supplier of OE parts to GM anyway. My old radio has Delphi stamped on it.

I do not give a second thought to buying Delphi.
Fuel pump for my Jeep and O2 sensors for my 04 Tahoe have been flawless.

If real GM is not available, I would not hesitate to bring in something from Delphi for anything electrical, NGK/NTK for ignition or emissions, or Gates for anything cooling-related. All great stuff from my expeience.
