I 'm trying to purchase a 22 or 23 PPV, but having difficulty. The local dealers here in Broward,FL are no help. I checked Chevy's website and there are tons for sale in Texas. Has anyone had luck buying one through a local dealer and then having it shipped from another state?

I hear ya. I understand PPV/SSV models are priced with Bid Negotiation built into the MSRP for agency fleet buyers.

I know it would have to be super hard to fire up the Cray abacus to re-figure the price without that built it.

As long as the Tahoe PPV isn’t “new”, I am pretty sure they can sell those to the general public. An agency purchase shouldn’t be any trouble at all. I’m pretty sure GM restricts ”new” fleet sales to businesses, corporations, and the government. If I remember correctly from our last batch of ’23 Tahoe PPVs, the Bid Negotiation reduced the price by about $8,500.00. I can pull the contract tomorrow when I get back into the office to save the ol’ abacus.

Short answer.
No.

All new PPV/SSVs must be ordered with a government PO attached or on a blanket contract bid. The only exception is for upfitting companies or approvals from GM corporate themselves.

GM is extremely strict with this and can take away allocations from a dealer or completely cut them off for a year if they are found to be selling them retail without prior approval. This is due to dealers like ones in Texas and Florida ordering a bunch, then selling them retail and making a good profit on them because they ordered them with bid assistance money or fleet pricing.

The only way that won't potentially end up getting a dealer in a lot of trouble from GM is to find one used.

Has this changed recently?

When the Caprice PPV first went into production, there were supposedly dealerships who would allow private parties to order them.

If you are looking for a 2015-2020 PPV, you can find a big selection at https://www.chiefsautogroup.com/ out side Hempstead, Tx. I have driven by this place for over 20 years on my way to Austin, Tx and it has grown into a one stop place for Tahoe or Ford PPV's. I know Sparksalot knows about this place, you can ask his opinion. The prices may be a little high because they provide warranty.
