The truck has been burning E85 since November. So at 100% Highway driving with speeds over 48 mph she's averaged 14.1 MPG.

In mixed City/Highway driving, between 40%-60% or so she's averaged 12.5 MPG.

At 100% City driving with speeds below 20 mph she's averaged 9.8 MPG.

Not shown has been the cost per mile for every tank of E85 since November and she's averaged twenty-four cents a mile with a high of .29 cents and a low of .17 cents a mile.

2007 Yukon Denali w/6.2L L92 w/186k miles

In 2022
our cost/mile = 20 cents/mile,
burning 100% premium unleaded,
@ $3.50/gal,
driving 50%hwy.50%local
averaged 17.4mpg,
and 2.7 gal/hr

so far in 2023:
our cost/mile = 19 cents/mile
burning 100% premium unleaded
@ 3.50/gal
driving 35%hwy/65%local
I'm averaging 50+ mph
averaging 18.4 mpg
and 2.7 gal/hr

Local driving for us still includes a fair amount of hwy driving since we live on the outskirts of a large city and avoid city driving like the plague.

I was still averaging $4.55 a gallon back then for Chevron's 93.

Those 6.2s are more efficient as long as they stay out of the city. Our 2013 6.2 Sierra gets better mileage than my 2009 5.3.

Let's see, to compare to yours, between 40% and 60% city driving she averaged a burn of 2.2 GPH and 15.7 MPGs. Your burn rate is about what our 2013 does.

Went outside to get the mail and noticed that the hood on the passenger side up near the cowl was raised. The adjuster up front is still tight but there is movement or play when the hood is down.

Maybe we left a tool under the hood and shut it the other night?

I wonder if a bracket up there needs some persuading with a mallet?

What do you guys do?

I like all the data you collect. I know the 6.2 sucks a lot of petroleum idling or city driving.

I've become somewhat obsessive about getting the best gas mileage I can in the Denali without going under the speed limit. If I go thru a drive-thru I shut the engine off instead of idling.

When I need to go somewhere I think to myself "is the distance long enough and are there enough hwy miles to get good mpg?" If not I take my 07 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Nothing I can do can make it get less than 20 mpg.

I did not use to think that way. It's not about the $$. It's just a fun challenge & interesting to me.

We love the way the Denali handles the open hwy.

I bought/added a 02 C5 Corvette to our fleet and plan to drive it back and fourth between TX & CO instead of the Denali in the warmer months. It gets 26+ mpg.

I'm with you, it's fun and a sign of the engine being in top form.

I'll always take the highway or longer route to avoid stop and go driving, not just for fuel economy but for safety as well.

So you got the Vette! Cool. But now you can't haul the kitchen sink back and forth and the view won't be what it was but those winding road sure will be a lot more fun to drive over!
